Dark, Chilling, Emersive
Revisado: 11-13-24
Just finished it and it was long but very very good. Chilling, dark and full of Dickenseque vibes. I felt immersed in a historical Victorian movie the entire time. I could stand to read it again to catch more details and subtle nuances I probably missed reading just once. Highly recommend reading in the Autumn months. Enjoy!

Heartwarming and Delicous
Revisado: 03-16-24
The story really picks up after Ch9 so don’t abandon it. Also, get the book in print if you can. The drawings of her painted letters, inspired by the art of Percy Kelly melted my heart. Macleod’s (of the clan MacLeod ;-) account of seeing (really seeing) The Mona Lisa stuck with me while her comparison of lovers to gelato was so funny and the journey to her true self was heartwarming. Glad I gave it a listen!

Historia
As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so their powers don’t mingle and draw attention. And as an orphan who lost her parents at a young age and was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone and she follows the rules...with one exception: an online account, where she posts videos "pretending" to be a witch. She thinks no one will take it seriously.

What a touching on multiple levels. Yeah, if you did a great job developing the characters in the performance was superb separating each characters accents in personalities. I feel like I was watching a movie!

I didn’t know a short story about the normal steps of cooking a meal could be so relaxing. Well done!

Historia
As if a run-in with an old flame and a failed marriage proposal weren't enough to horrify Krissy for one night, a woman is found strangled to death in a room filled with ominous jack-o'-lanterns. All signs suggest a crime of passion - but when the hostess's jewelry disappears, malevolent intentions seem way more likely.

Boring
Revisado: 09-12-23
Just couldn’t get into it. Too boring, dated and cliche. Some might like it for light reading but I’m going spend six hours listening to a book. I want to enjoy it and look forward to going back to it every chance I get.

Historia
The works of Thomas Wolfe cemented his legacy as one of the very best of the American Southern writers. Wolfe's largely autobiographical novel features Eugene Gant, who pines for a more expansive life after being born to a father whose bouts of maniacal raving are fueled by a prodigious appetite for drink.

No Thanks
Revisado: 01-11-23
While I understand when this book was written, the author gave no grace to people of color or women, and did nothing to breakaway from then negative treatment, and opinions of African-Americans and women. This novel and the author are on the wrong side of history. I just could not bare to listen to it more. I do believe the write is incredibly talented and gifted with words but I can not get past the Ch. 10 due to the racism and misogyny.

Perfection

Confident. Direct. Simple. Thorough. Sincere. Even touching and poetic. This book was exactly what I needed and I’m going to have to purchase it in print to use as a lifelong reference. Loved it!
