I couldn’t finish this one, the narration for Spider just drove me too crazy! Spider is supposed to be a wealthy, private school educated English man, but the narrator chose to give him an annoying working class accent. He sounded more like a thug that works on the docks, rather than a posh elite.

Dnf the story seemed promising, but the male narrator was unbearable. He’s female voices were grating, American accent weak and English accent was that of a working class bloke instead of the posh English accent that someone who went to English boarding school would have had.

Tragedy after tragedy, this book was mostly depressing.
Well written, with great characters and a decent plot, but it was a bit slow and just too sad and angsty for me.

I gave up with 8 hours to go. The plot dragged on and on, repeating one scene after the other, I can only imagine the remaining 8hrs was more of the same. The female narrator was good, but the male narrator was brutal

I really wished the author had not made Tiffany so “sexually liberated” because in my mind she was sexual irresponsible, stupid and selfish. Our story opens with our soccer groupie heroine engaging in casual group sexual activities with her favourite soccer playing “friends”, all in the spirit of “these are my friends” and “I just love sex”, “ I am not hurting anyone”. But it is quite clear from the start that Tiffany’s sexual partner friends really don’t have a lot of respect for her, and in fact she is hurting someone, cause some of these guys are married! I really couldn’t stand Tiffany. She is naive, selfish and the home wrecker the soccer WAGs claim she is. After I learned that she slept with the married guys, I had no sympathy for her. I loved our hero Rowan but for the life of me couldn’t see what he saw in her.

It was torture reading the first half of this book. It was filled with nasty, hateful, overtly mean characters who only see the worst in people. From the main characters’ two sisters, to their friends, to all of the workers and customers of the bakery - they were all dreadful. It’s hard to believe so many nasty people could exist in such a small group.

The plot was relatively engaging, If it wasn’t for all of the fighting and the crappy, selfish, unlikable characters this book would have been pretty good, but as it stands I wouldn’t recommend it.

DNF. I couldn’t get through much of this story as I found the narrator excruciating to listen to. Over dramatic, with way too many pauses and inappropriate changes in tone, the narrator needs some serious training. The story may have been good but I will never know.

I have read the previous four books in this series, they are all good on their own, but are way too similar to enjoy all them. Much like the previous books in this series, The Game Plan follows the same formula. Next door neighbours who start as adversaries then fall for each other, ravenously hungry Bradford’s who constantly get up to high jinx in their efforts to acquire food, a cute nickname for the heroine, boy chases girl etc. In the first and maybe the second books, these elements are fun and engaging, but when we see them in book after book it gets a little old. If you haven’t read the previous books in this series The Game Plan will be a fun read, but if you have read the previous, this is a whole lot more of the same.

Keeland is one of my favourite authors in this genre, but the plot of this book is a bit too similar to the plot of Keeland’s Stuck Up Suit. IMHO it’s not worth the credit if you have read Stuck Up Suit.

Life-long arch enemies end up co-supervising a project together. He (Conner) expects to be the boss, and have her (Rory)fetch him coffee. Conner then sets out on a mission to turn Rory’s five loyal brothers against her.
Besides the ridiculous premise, the plot was all over the place. They seem to kiss, and touch when they don’t even like each other, plus there were jumps between story and time lines that often left me confused.

It found it impossible to like a guy like Connor who a) was plotting to destroy her company throughout most of the book b) is so stupid to think he could turn Rory’s 5 brothers, who love and protect her against her and c)do all of this and think he is going to keep her in his bed.

I loved the first two books in this series, but I wouldn’t recommend Checkmate.
