Historia
Scotland Yard Detective Superintendent Duncan Kincaid and his wife, Detective Inspector Gemma James, have been invited for a relaxing weekend in the tranquil Cotswolds, one of Britain’s most beautiful and historic regions. A centerpiece of this glorious fall getaway is a posh charity luncheon catered by up-and-coming chef Viv Holland. But a tragic car accident followed by a series of mysterious deaths could ruin her ascent. Each piece of information that surfaces makes it clear that the killer had a connection with Viv’s pub - and perhaps with Beck House itself.

I love the writer’s ability to give such detail and info in his books. Plus a splash of sarcasm and a good development of the characters.

Historia
August 1939: London is dismal under the weight of impending war with Germany as Hitler’s forces continue to sweep across Europe. Into this uncertain maelstrom steps Grace Bennett, young and ready for a fresh start in the bustling city streets she’s always dreamed of - and miles away from her troubled past in the countryside. With aspirations of working at a department store, Grace never imagined she’d wind up employed at Primrose Hill, an offbeat bookshop nestled in the heart of the city - after all, she’s never been much of a reader.

Stiff upper lip
Revisado: 12-07-23
The heroine in this story and her many adventures during WWII greatly represents the Brits and their stiff upper lip survival. From my understanding of the war, the writer clearly depicts the horrific times for Britain and its ability to withstand.

Terrified, he explains that he has just seen a dead body in the woods. Toni lends him an old t-shirt to cover himself, Agatha calls the police, and the young man takes them to the spot where he saw the body, across from a meadow where the Mircester Naturist Club is due to have its annual summer barbecue.

Fabulous story and narration
Revisado: 08-25-21
I have now listened to two of Cathy’s Audible books and have enjoyed them immensely. The story line in each, The Corpse with the Golden Nose and The Corpse with the Silver Tongue, are riveting.
Cathy’s narration is absolutely marvellous. Her side remarks and inner thoughts are hysterical. Her voice is lovely to listen to, it’s as if she is next to me telling a story.
Every bit is a complete enjoyment.

Such a good listen. The Narrators are fabulous and keep the flow interesting with their ability to tell a story. The story line itself is like nothing I have read. It could have gone in so many directions but the writers chose a path different from the norm.

Disappointed
Revisado: 08-05-21
I have so enjoyed the previous Martha Vineyards Mysteries. This was such a disappointment. I felt the story line was painfully childish. The accents seemed to change throughout the story and were terribly wrong. I thought the Narrator had a lovely reading voice, but this whole combination was very poor.
