Historia
A thousand years ago in an ancient Scottish landscape, a woman is on the run with her three companions–a healer, a weaver, and a seer. The men hunting her will kill her–because she is the only one who stands between them and their violent ambition. She is no lady: she is the first queen of Scotland, married to a king called Macbeth. As the net closes in, what unfurls is a tale of passion, forced marriage, bloody massacre, and the harsh realities of medieval Scotland. At the heart of it is one strong, charismatic woman.

Of all the books in all the worlds, make this the one you don't download. The story, the setting and the scenery might urge to you to beg to differ. But trust me. Just don't.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 05-28-24
The plot is interesting. But quite drawn out. i expected the story to turn in a different direction. Also I don’t like steamy. And there were an overwhelming amount of steamy scenes. Lynda La Plante
is a wonderful writer and her plots and knowledge in the criminal area bar none. She absolutely needs not apply these kind of cheap tricks to retain the attention of the listener, or perhaps is she venturing into Harlekin domain to gain new followers ?

The fragility of everyday life
Revisado: 05-21-24
This story is beautifully written and read. It carries the listener quickly into a certainty that the story won’t have a happy ending and highlights how (social) media is capable of quickly luring audiences into judging the parents of a missing girl , ousting them instead of supporting them in their quest to find their missing girl. I highly recommend this story.

Historia
Carl Mørck used to be one of Denmark’s best homicide detectives. Then a hail of bullets destroyed the lives of two fellow cops, and Carl - who didn’t draw his weapon - blames himself. So a promotion is the last thing he expects. But Department Q is a department of one, and Carl’s got only a stack of cold cases for company. His colleagues snicker, but Carl may have the last laugh, because one file keeps nagging at him: A liberal politician vanished five years earlier and is presumed dead. But she isn’t dead...yet.

This is a fabulous story but it’s torpedoed by the awful attempt of the narrator to sound Danish. Why the heck ?

Too many poorly developed characters thrown into a too fast spinning plot. Love the narrator, though.
