Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Sad but I can't recommend this.
Revisado: 04-23-24
I've read The Marian a few times and Project Hail Mary a few also, and Artemis doesn't come close to those titles. You wouldn't know it's the same author if you weren't told. I'm 9 chapters in and I still don't feel like the story is building toward anything I'll care about. It doesn't hold my attention like Weir's other titles. I don't feel invested in the characters at all. I regret burning a credit on this.

Historia
The Netflix series Making a Murderer quickly became a huge hit, with over 19 million viewers in the US in the first 35 days. The series left many viewers with the opinion that Steven Avery - a man falsely imprisoned for almost 20 years on a rape charge - was railroaded into prison a second time by a corrupt police force and district attorney's office. Viewers were outraged, and hundreds of thousands demanded a pardon for Avery. The chief villain of the series: Ken Kratz, the special prosecutor who headed the investigation and prosecution.

I like Ken Kratz.
Revisado: 01-19-23
I already believed in Avery's guilt, but I will say this book contained a ton of new information that I hadn't come across anywhere else. I think Ken was right to prosecute Avery and he's owned up to his personal failings, none of which have any bearing on Avery's guilt or innocence anyway. I think Kratz paid a bigger price for his personal missteps than he should have had to pay, and the personal impact on his life and others from the Netflix "documentary" was utterly unfair.

Historia
It was never supposed to be this close. And of course she was supposed to win. How Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 election to Donald Trump is the tragic story of a sure thing gone off the rails. For every Comey revelation or hindsight acknowledgment about the electorate, no explanation of defeat can begin with anything other than the core problem of Hillary's campaign - the candidate herself.

Not pleased by the reading performance.
Revisado: 12-02-21
Kimberly Farr’s voice sounds too much like that of Hillary, quite frankly. It grates on me. There are passages in the book where she does an impression of Hillary speaking and she barely has to change her voice in order to accomplish this. I listened to this book previously using a text to speech engine and I found that to be a far more pleasing experience.
