I love Harper Fox's work, but this narrator makes every character sound like some else's cigar-smoking, slow talking grandfather. I will read on my kindle instead.

I expected something more than variations on medical kink and troubling (to me) drag as humiliation with a quick relationship snafu thrown in.

This book--the whole series--is fantastic. I'm glad I found Josh Lanyon's work. It's smart, witty, and fast paced. Kale Williams does excellent work with the narration. I'm off to find another Lanyon audiobook.

I'm not usually a fan of supernatural m/m romance, but I love this series. Josh Lanyon's writing is flawless, and Cosmo Saville is my new favorite main character.

Another good book by Rhys Ford and narrated by Greg Tremblay. The story follows Ford's formula developed in the Cole McGinnis books, so it feels familiar, but Dante Montoya is a potent MC well worth following into the next book of this series.

I could listen to this book over and over. Oz is a beautiful character, someone I wish I had been. And Joel Leslie is brilliant throughout this book, narrating Oz as if he wrote it. One of my favorites, for sure.

First, the writing is brilliant. It's clear and lucid and funny and somehow both plain and literary at the same time. I long to think the way Alexis Hall writes. This story is familiar Alexis Hall landscape, with one who's lost and believes he's unlovable and the other who seems to be found but underneath his confidence believes he's unlovable, too. It's a different combination than the Billionaire series, but you see here as in the Spires series and the Billionaire series how deeply Hall wants love and passion to intertwine and heal. Of course, as with some of his other books, there are moments of farce and wit and creative lunacy that I could--and have--read many times over and find just as entertaining each time. I'm a bit lost now that I have no other Alexis Hall books to read or listen to.

Joe Jameson does a fantastic job here, rendering the main characters so well and consistently that I quickly forgot one person was giving us a room full of people. I will definitely search for more books narrated by him.

No one does redemption better than Alexis Hall

In book after book, Alexis Hall gives us a character who's given up, or very nearly, and he slowly, carefully, and sometimes with really wicked sharp wit, brings them back to life, usually through a lover who won't give up on them. The Billionaire series and the Spires series are both about redemption through love, and as corny as that sounds, Alexis Hall makes it so deeply human that the cliche turns real and has the power to move and even inspire. I loved the book, the narration, the whole thing, and as with every Alexis Hall book, I finish it and get so unnerved that there's not another one to listen to that I go back and listen to it again, and it holds up to a second listen, and I suspect to a third.

The Don't series and Dan Calley's performance of it are terrific. This book--Backlash--was less engrossing than the previous books, perhaps because two of the three main characters are seriously damaged and in a kind of limbo until Gray, who is himself damaged, figures out who financed events in the previous series. There's a lot of confused thinking in this book, and that's interesting psychologically, but not as suspenseful, and it lacks the occasional humor that livened up the previous books. Still, I'm glad I read it and after a break for some lighter fare, I'll return to the series.

The narration is great as always except--I almost feel bad mentioning it, but--the American accents are just plain bad. It's like he took a few of the characteristics of regional dialect and emphasized them while not getting the underlying rhythms and cadences. I almost had to stop listening when Trace and the other Americans showed up.

I wanted to like this, but it was a struggle. Each narrator was good, but each did both main characters' voices in his chapters, so it was like four people instead of two, and the switch from chapter to chapter kept me from getting immersed in it. It got the impression that each narrator couldn't really do different voices so that's why there's two people reading, but one would have been better. The story is fairly conventional and there's a lot of good sex in this, but at a certain age and as a certain character type, one shouldn't be quite so scared of dad's disapproval--it kind of kills the sex appeal. As others have noted, there's a cliffhanger at the end. I'm not going to buy the next book in the series to find out what happens, so this feels unfinished. Overall, I see what the authors were going for here, and I like what it aspired to be, but the book just didn't get there, at least for me.
