Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

There's no feeling in it
Revisado: 04-28-25
The narrative voice written in the story tells what events happen like reading a plot outline or a history book. An author should craft words that show you motivations, love, hardship, but in this book we are only told what they are.

From the self-proclaimed Queen of the Stunted Late Bloomers and one of the most exciting emerging voices in comedy comes an honestly funny memoir about the awkward, cringeworthy, hilarious, and longest possible journey of coming of age and into her own.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Science fiction could be science fact
Revisado: 12-09-15
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mark is the main and almost only character in the book. This is a science fiction version of man vs. nature in a way that is unique and believable. The science in the book is believable and will be in the next decade, if not already, a reality. The author definitely knows his stuff about science and writing.

Historia
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. The Fault in Our Stars is insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw. It brilliantly explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Inspiring and emotional
Revisado: 12-09-15
Would you listen to The Fault in Our Stars again? Why?
Definitely. The story is so well told as well as compelling. I have lost people to cancer and this definitely is realistic in its depictments.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Fault in Our Stars?
When the protagonist first meets her idol, he acts aloof and down right mean. But later when he comes around, the characters reactions are believable thanks to the great story telling by John Green.

What did you like best about this story?
This story keeps you guessing. It has a mystery and lots of teenage angst. It is amazing how the friends react to the protagonist and ditch everything to help him.

Historia
The totalitarian East has triumphed in a massive invasion, and the United States has fallen to a dictatorial superpower bent on total domination. That power is consolidating its grip through concentration camps, police state tactics, and a total monopoly upon the very thoughts of the conquered populace. A tiny enclave of scientists and soldiers survives, unbeknownst to America’s new rulers. It’s six against six million - but those six happen to include a scientific genius, a master of subterfuge and disguise who learned his trade as a lawyer-turned-hobo, and a tough-minded commander....

Underwhelming
Revisado: 12-09-15
Any additional comments?
Heinlein is a great author. But this book fails to live up to his standard. The story is far-fetched even for science fiction. The "science" is more magic than science. The plot contrivances are just plain silly.
