Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Couldn't get into it
Revisado: 03-17-24
The book jumps around in the timeline and between characters a lot, which was hard to follow. Especially when listening, I found it hard to know where I was in the story. I've listened to many other books that jump around in timelines but have never had such a hard time keeping track as with this book. This book has a really good story, but personally, I couldn't get into it. I watched the series after the book and like that a lot more.

Absolutely fascinating book!
Revisado: 03-24-23
Very interessting true story that reads just like a novel. The author did a great job retelling history in a way that makes you not want to put down the book. Elizabeth was a very impressive woman. I'm glad I now know her story.

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

I love this book. I have read it before but wanted to listen to it. I really struggled with the narrator. It was hard for me to listen.

Historia
Peel back the cheerful façade that parents present, and you'll find that many are worried about their teens. Mood swings, impulsiveness, poor judgment, and other problems peak in these years. Add stressors such as screen addiction, cyberbullying, increasing academic demands, and time-consuming athletic commitments...and it's no surprise that today's teenagers rank as the most anxious in 50 years.

Definitely not my favorite Grisham book
Revisado: 06-16-19
It was rather slow for one of Grishams books. There were several times I thought I might stop listening. Had good potential but just didn't live up to the rest of his books.

Historia
You’ve heard of an Essex Girl or even a Chelsea Girl, but what about a Hounslow Girl? Definition of a Hounslow Girl: a young Muslim woman who wears hooped earrings with her headscarf and grapples with traditional values while hustling her way through urban London. The Diary of a Hounslow Girl is a bold and provocative one-person play, written and performed by Ambreen Razia. From the joys of traditional Pakistani weddings to fights on the night bus, this is a comic story of dreams, aspirations and coming of age, told through the eyes of a 16-year-old British Muslim girl.

Didn't like it
Revisado: 12-21-18
Just a story of a Muslim teen girl in England who has sex, does drugs and says the F-word way too much. Didn't like the narration either

The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

So so
Revisado: 12-03-18
The book really dragged on for the first two thirds. Didn't feel at all like a thriller. There were many times I was ready to put it down. The ending however was good with a really unexpected twist, which is why I'm giving it three stars. They did use the f-word a significant amount of times in the book which I thought was excessive. Not a fan of the narrators voice for Anna but the rest were good

Best how to raise your kids book I've ever read
Revisado: 12-13-15
I was a little worried that I would struggle to listen to a self help book but it was actually rather entertaining. The examples that were shared from people's lives were fun to listen to and were used to teach new techniques. This book takes a very different approach from any I've read before. Just tried a little with my kids so far but do see improvement. Can't wait to try more.
