LET ME START BY SAYING I DONT USUALLY REVIEW BOOKS BUT THIS NEEDS TO BE SAID. Let’s see if audible will approve the review.
I started this book and liked it at first. It was interesting to learn about the main character and her life struggles. The supporting characters who found her, Logan and a brother, started off seeming very sweet. In the beginning she talks about being 16 and not wanting to go into foster care.... it also speaks about how multiple of these men are centuries old. Anyway, so these 8 men take her in. They help her and each of them starts to have feelings for her, a never been kissed vulnerable 16 year old. The book is very clear that she is niave and doesn’t know how the world works. It goes on to have the men speak between themselves about sharing her. They agree and then they ask her about it. She, being niave says she loves them all and wouldn’t be problem being loved by all of them. Remember, She hasn’t ever had sex. She’s never had anyone tell her right from wrong so she says well it must be okay if they are all okay with it.
Honestly I had to stop listening because as much as I love a good sex scene I just felt nasty listening to it. She’s still a child and she’s having interactions with GROWN-“immortal” men. It reeks of manipulation, coercion and pedophilia. I couldn’t finish it.
That being said, had they made the main character older it would have been a good book.
But as it stands I wouldn’t recommend buying it and I wish I could get my money back!!!

Good series but......

Why so many on answered questions? We are four books into this series and I just feel like there should be more. By this point I expected to have at least a good understanding of the main character and her powers. I just feel like it’s playing out very slowly. The narrator is amazing. She is by far my favorite narrator on Audible. That is originally why I started the series and I was pleasantly surprised with it.
As I said, it is a good book series but pieces feel like they are missing. Why is Devlin still such a mystery? What are her powers? Where is her sick mother and her father? Who can teach her? It just isn’t flowing the way I would like. This series has the potential to be amazing but I just feel like something is missing.

Best series ever!

By far the best series and best narration! I love faith hunter and she didn’t let me down in this book.
Jane is my all time favorite main character! Her relationships with the younger, bruised, and most of all Leo are what makes this series so great!
SPOILER ALERT:
The battles at the end and the time sickness leave us wondering..... what’s going to happen to Jane Yellowrock. Leo’s beheading was enough to make me cry which let me just say is awkward when the husband asks why you’re so upset 🤣
Also, can we talk about Khristine Hvam real quick? She has the best voices! I originally found her from this series and I’ve gotten so many other books since then because she was the narrator. If it’s read by Khristine, it’s gonna be good!

Wish it moved faster!

This is a great book but I feel like it could have moved a little faster. Even at the end of the book I was confused as to why the book ended in such a way that left you needing more of the story, not in a good way. It’s a great series and one of the best narrators I have ever listened to but it’s just slow

Khristine Hvam can make any story sound great!

I only found this book because I was looking for books that were near rated by khristine hvam. I found her originally from the Jane yellow rock series. It is by far my favorite series so I tried this one.
I love it!! It is slow in the beginning but picks up fairly quickly and the storyline is great. I feel like you really got to know a good bit about the main character yet somehow you are still left wanting more. I already got the second book because I can’t wait to find out what happens between her and the detective not to mention how her powers unfold! Oh! And the drama with her mother!
Overall, i was really happy with this book. I’d recommend it solely off the narrator but the story itself is A1!

At first I wasn’t sure but omg I’m in love

Betsy’s attitude and smart mouth make this book so enjoyable. It took me a couple of chapters to get into it but now I can’t wait to read the rest. I would definitely recommend this book series to anyone who enjoys funny and witty books!

I love Faith Hunter!

I started by reading the Jane Yellowrock series and I completely fell in love and I'll be damned if she hasn't done it again with this new Soulwood series! And I love Khristine Hvam. At first I wasn't sure about her doing both series because it's a different women but she kept Ricks voice the same and made her that Neill had her own strong voice. I'm so pleased and I strongly recommend!!

Great series but audible is missing a few books!

I love the narrator and I love love love the Anita Blake series but I have one complaint and it's nothing to do with the writing, sound effects, and voices. It's the fact that audible is missing quite a few of the books in this series yet they are releasing the new book coming out soon but are missing 5 or more books in the middle of the series. I listen to books more then read because it's easier with my kids so I hate when I get into a series and there are missing books!! I had to go buy the books they don't list here on audible.
AUDIBLE: PLEASE GET ALL OF THE SERIES! ALL OF US LISTENING WOULD BE SUPER GRATEFUL! :)

Happy surprise

I wasn't sure I'd like this book but it kept popping up in my list so I finally tried it. At first I wasn't sure, I've just finished the Faith Hunter series and nothing can compare so far but this book was surprisingly entertaining! I enjoyed Mercys personality and look forward to listening and learning more!

Anyone who likes this series, I'd recommend reading The Faith Hunter series! It's about another version of the skin walker and it's super good!

One of my favorite series!!

I've loved this series from book one. The differences between Jane and Beast are crazy and you never know where something is going. I love that I never know what is going to happen.
I'm also glad they have kept the same narrator thru the whole series! That makes it so much better to listen to because their voices stay the same!
