Historia
Alexandra Styron's parents—the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Sophie’s Choice and his political activist wife, Rose—were, for half a century, leading players on the world’s cultural stage. Alexandra was raised under both the halo of her father’s brilliance and the long shadow of his troubled mind. Reading My Father portrays the epic sweep of an American artist’s life. It is also a tale of filial love, beautifully written with humor, compassion, and grace.

Styron on Styron -awesome combo
Revisado: 05-15-11
I have loved all of William Styron's works and this was a beautiful and loving look at the man himself - warts and all. Didn't realize he was so debilitated by depression even though I head "Darkness Visible" - I liked every minute of it and am glad I bought it.

Lotta filler - editor was mia
Revisado: 08-03-10
John Corey was his usual sarcastic self and didn't disappoint, but this plot was pretty expected. And Mr. Demille needs to find a synonym for the words "reply" / "replied" - he used them at least 300 times in this book..so many times that I was distracted by counting the number of repetitions. It was a good book to take to bed and put me to sleep.

Tedious

this book was recommended by one of my art professors. It was sort of interesting from an artist's perspective, but it could have been about half as long. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't interested in art.

If you like sacchariny sweet, plain vanilla predictable plots, this is the one for you. If I hadn't paid for it, I would have abandoned ship after about three hours. Reader was bad, too. What else can I say?

I missed much of this book because I don't speak Spanish. I want my money back! What I got was not very enjoyable because it was so scattered I couldn't follow the characters or the plot.

I'm not a mystery reader (one of my friends labeled me a "normal person") but I really enjoyed this book. The only negative was trying to keep all members of the family identified. Even so, I couldn't wait to listen to my next installment.

I liked it
Revisado: 04-11-09
The story line was original and the historical context of the plot was very interesting. The only negative was the letter format which is distracting. The reader was excellent and it was well worth the money to listen to this short book.

I found myself laughing out loud when listening to this book. Thomas Friedman irks me and amuses me at the same time. I can't believe he knows everything about everything the way he pretends. Anyway the book is very informative and funny and now I know why we are all so interdependent.
