This was alright. I was a bit confused for most of the book. This just isn't my type of book. I was also disappointed in the ending.

Impressive and fun
Revisado: 01-08-23
I really enjoyed this book. Hearing all the references was great and a lot of fun. The story was exciting and I found the technology thought up in this book fascinating.
I was impressed with Wil Wheaton's narration. He did a great job. He was even referenced at one point, I bet he enjoyed that.
There are several uses of the 'F' word and other words. Some might find that offensive.

Historia
Amelia Peabody embarks on her first Egyptian adventure armed with unshakable self-confidence, a journal for her thoughts, and, of course, a sturdy umbrella. On her way, she rescues Evelyn Barton-Forbes, who has been "ruined" and abandoned on the streets of Rome by her lover. With a typical disregard for convention, Amelia promptly hires her fellow countrywoman as a companion and takes her to Cairo, where strange visitations and a botched kidnapping convince Amelia that there is a plot afoot to harm Evelyn.

Didn't hit the mark
Revisado: 11-01-22
I was disappointed in this book. All the characters were unlikeable and annoying A couple of the characters, including the main character, were rude, pompous, and full of themselves throughout the whole story. This seems like a feminist book. I'll probably return this.

These books keep getting better. I really enjoy Barbara's narration. She really brings the stories to life.
The humor and wit is very entertaining and the action and danger kept me engrossed. I look forward to reading more in this series!

Horny teenagers
Revisado: 08-05-22
Let's all pause have internal monologues about our feelings for each other for thirty minutes while we're being chased and shot at by our enemies. Really?? The "romance" was really annoying throughout this book. All the characters hated each other but at the same time have the hots for one another and spend so much wasted time thinking about their feelings right in the middle of dire situations. It's as if the enemies just pause and wait for the main characters to get their feelings in check before they continue attacking. This happened many times in the story it was frustrating.
I also thought the narrators did a better job voicing all the other characters but their own. And what's the point of the talking tablet/phone being in this book at all?? I wanted to know what it had to say whenever it spoke up to give a suggestion, which wasn't often, but all the characters just immediately silence it every time.
I'm hesitant to bother with the rest of the books if this continues like this...

very enjoyable!
Revisado: 07-15-22
This wasn't what I expected. I've listened to other books and audio of Sherlock written by other authors but they've always paled in comparison to Doyle's and have always been very disappointing. But I was pleasantly surprised with this. Flipping the script forces you to start over your views on the characters and was really refreshing!
The performances were great! Dominic and Billy are such a joy to listen to. Their friendship is really genuine, you see that on their podcast and to see it continue as they work on projects like this together is a joy to follow! I hope they do more projects like this in the future!

Historia
August 1939: London is dismal under the weight of impending war with Germany as Hitler’s forces continue to sweep across Europe. Into this uncertain maelstrom steps Grace Bennett, young and ready for a fresh start in the bustling city streets she’s always dreamed of - and miles away from her troubled past in the countryside. With aspirations of working at a department store, Grace never imagined she’d wind up employed at Primrose Hill, an offbeat bookshop nestled in the heart of the city - after all, she’s never been much of a reader.

Wonderful Read
Revisado: 06-24-22
This was a most enjoyable book! I don't normally read these types of books and I was pleasantly surprised. It's sobering to imagine what people felt and experienced during war time. I appreciate how clean the language of this book was and the narrator was fantastic to listen to.

Overrun by theories and speculation
Revisado: 06-10-22
Half the book is filled with the author's opinions about science, evolution, extinction etc. It's very uninteresting and extremely boring. I had to skip chapters and portions of chapters because these theories were constantly being brought up randomly throughout the book.
This book was really disappointing. There's one particular character that, every time he appears and speaks, drops the f-bomb like every other word. I don't recall the first book having so much vulgar language. It's disgusting.
If it wasn't for these things it would be a very short and much more enjoyable book. I'll stick with the film.

Ben Macintyre’s Agent Zigzag was hailed as “rollicking, spellbinding” (New York Times), “wildly improbable but entirely true” (Entertainment Weekly), and, quite simply, “the best book ever written” (Boston Globe). In his new book, Operation Mincemeat, he tells an extraordinary story that will delight his legions of fans. In 1943, from a windowless basement office in London, two brilliant intelligence officers conceived a plan that was both simple and complicated - Operation Mincemeat.

Intriguing
Revisado: 05-19-22
This piece of espionage during the war was pretty fascinating. I enjoyed the history and background of this particular spy work. I did feel the narrator was a bit dry.
