No recap, felt rushed and confusing
Revisado: 03-21-25
I've generally like these books, but with the long time period between each one it's hard to remember what's going on. and considering the goofy light-hearted nature of these books, they're not exactly the kind of books that I want to reread an entire book just to get a remembrance of what's going on.
inclusion of or lack of recap, it's something that I'm starting to take into account when it comes to giving a review.
As to the story, it felt kind of rushed. It felt kind of like the author wasn't very certain where this was going and not in a enjoyable way.
There are constant segways into scenarios that are just for the purpose of comedy, which generally isn't a big deal accepting for the fact that they allowed entire 30 minute to hour-long portions of this audiobook to be entirely for a joke and no other purpose. not even a progression of the story with a funny twist, if I wanted stand-up comedy I would watch stand-up comedy.
At this point I believe this book series has gone on too long, and gotten too far from its core purpose and storyline.

Historia
How do you tell your part in the biggest tale in history? I ask because it's what I have to do. I'm Zoe Boutin Perry: A colonist stranded on a deadly pioneer world. Holy icon to a race of aliens. A player (and a pawn) in a interstellar chess match to save humanity, or to see it fall. Witness to history. Friend. Daughter. Human. Seventeen years old. Everyone on Earth knows the tale I am part of. But you don't know my tale: How I did what I did—how I did what I had to do—not just to stay alive but to keep you alive, too.

Waste of a book
Revisado: 03-26-24
Look it's not terrible but like 70% of it is just crap we JUST read from a slightly different perspective.
I only got it because I was worried about it having story elements that would tie into the next book of the series.
Overall felt like a waste of my time and money.

Historia
Jane Sagan: Soldier. Killer. Lover. Dreamer. In John Scalzi's best-selling Old Man's War series of science-fiction novels, we see this warrior woman as the other characters see her - silent and strong, from the outside. But now The Sagan Diary shows us Sagan from another point of view: her own, as she prepares to leave military life and join her new husband and adopted daughter on a colony world.

HORRIBLE waste of time and money
Revisado: 03-26-24
title says it all. this is a boring ass overly self-speculative ramble of what sounds like crappy poetry that the reader's tone tries to make sound deep but just sounds boring and arrogant.
absolute waste of time like the last book about Zoe but this was honestly worse, and that's saying something cause the Zoe book sucked too.

Neat idea, sh*te ending and NOT a conecting series
Revisado: 05-22-23
I found the story to be interesting enough but it all felt like the set-up to something more, something much more, and instead it's just this.. I expected a multi-book series to enjoy for months, instead I got what seems to be a great idea for a pilot episode but no real conclusion, no amazing discoveries, no real Ending either, it's like he just ran out of ideas for the characters to do and ended it without ceremony.

Does Ordinal really stand a chance against the ever growing darkness?

Great book, needs recap
Revisado: 04-24-23
Another good one. I mean I made it this far so clearly I'm digging them!
But put in a recap. Reader's sometimes listen to a lot of stories of a particular genre, when we're waiting months to even a year sometimes for a new book we listen to other series.
A recap would be nice so I can have a decent idea of where we are picking up from. Shows can do it, I'm sure books can too.

Historia
The Rangers and Osay colonists have won the fight for control of their corner of Amir. But as the threat of invasion from nearby RUPAC special forces loom, Reach, Alexa, and Brody seek to make newfound neighbors into allies. But friendship isn’t easy to come by, even on a planet as hostile to humans as Amir. Even inside the Ranger-protected confines of the O-C, tensions boil over as Liana works to find a way to make Ranger, Osay, and RUPAC defectors coexist and save their hostility for what lays outside the colony’s growing walls.

Good book. Need recap
Revisado: 11-21-22
I enjoy these books, but it'd be perfect if they included a re-cap chapter since it can be a long wait in between books and if you listen to a lot of them you can easily forget or get it mixed up what is going on, who is who, and what happened last.

A haven for humanity. Factions forming and fracturing. The seeds of a new empire. Drew and his team are racing to create a system-recognized "Habitat". To make this happen, they must conquer more nodes, deal with an antagonistic superior officer, and possibly worst of all: Their own fear. Freeing the troll’s sacrificial captives was only the beginning. Now the remnants of humanity must find a safe place to call home. But Nat's Park isn't the safe haven he was promised it would be. Not only do internal politics threaten to rip the survivors apart, an unknown danger haunts the stadium.

THERE IS A SYNOPSIS OF THE LAST BOOK
Revisado: 05-06-22
I cannot begin to explain just how HAPPY I am to find out this book has a synopsis of the last book at it's beginning. This is a sorely needed addition to many book series as far too often does a book take so long to come out that I have already forgotten what was going on in the last one.
I love that this author took the time to think about that and add this "previously..." section in the beginning to jog the memory of readers. Thank you so much.

Historia
Drew Michalik was working in a top-secret facility in Washington, DC, when the Advent began. As all electronics in the world simply ceased to work, blue screens filled with information appeared before him. Drew was given access to a mana interface and a limited number of reality-altering crystals called Xatherite. Following the instructions on his vision-impairing screens, he "slotted" his Xatherite and changed his fate: He gained the ability to cast spells. Now alone in the dark, he must battle through the government bunker turned dungeon in a desperate bid for survival.

Good book. Narrator sucks at female voices though.
Revisado: 05-01-22
Good story if you can get past the narrator's horrible attempts at female voices. Might just be my long-time listening to other narrator's that has led me to expect a feminine voice to sound feminine and it's likely not a big deal to most. But it does get grating listening to every single female sounding like the same person, and worse, the same Dude person.

Another great one. little hard to follow sometimes
Revisado: 04-06-22
it's the third book so it goes without saying I'm still loving this series.
wanted to point out the difficulty in following some of the longer combat portions though. The jumping from one character to another along with the high-speed flurry of information leaves me regularly going "wait who is this and where are they?".
I'm not certain what cues could be added make that easier to follow but damn could I use some. still, excellent series.

Robocop - Dead or alive, you're coming with me.
Revisado: 03-28-22
Excellent book series so far, just enough fun and sci-fi stuff to make you laugh with enough action and gore to keep the primitive mind interested for more.
Also sh*t, by this point who Wouldn't pay for a Brody soundboard?! That character was such a perfect addition to add some light hearted goofy fun that gives you that awesome "Hell yeah!! That was cool!!" vibe that the movies that make up his personality did as a child. love that character and he couldn't have been voiced better!
