A Binge-Worthy Book (+ series)
Revisado: 09-06-23
A fantastic read that appeals not only to mid-graders, but also to readers of all ages, including myself. Peterson masterfully crafts a rich and immersive world that is brimming with dangers and acts of bravery.
One of the standout aspects of this book is the characters. The children in the story are wonderfully unique, each with their own quirks and imperfections, which makes them incredibly relatable. As a KidLit writer, I appreciate how Peterson portrays young characters who feel real and authentic, facing challenges and growing throughout the story.
Peterson's creative us of language is a highlight of the book. His writing style is not only descriptive but also remarkably entertaining and often humorous. This adds a layer of enjoyment to the reading experience, making it a delightful journey from start to finish.
I wholeheartedly recommend "On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness" to anyone seeking a beautifully written and satisfying adventure. Whether you're a mid-grader, parent, or just someone who appreciate a well-crafted story, this book is sure to captivate your imagination.

It Will Take You There
Revisado: 02-04-23
A wonderfully written story about a very dark time in history. This book reveals the true horrors of the holocaust, particularly as it relates to Auschwitz, as well as the hope and determination to survive and sacrifices made. This is a powerful story you won’t be able to pull away from.

Beautiful story
Revisado: 02-02-23
This was a beautiful story mixed with accounts of WWII about a young girl who overcame obstacles in her life and discovered her worth which probably would not have happened if there had not been a war. Very well written and the audible version was done very well. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Read
Revisado: 01-24-22
Sanderson creates a world (and beyond) that will take you on a fascinating scify journey full of adventure and humor as Spensa Nightshade works to fulfill what she feels is her destiny, His descriptions are vivid and unique, even sometimes taking the reader into places that are more like a "feeling" than some place tangible. I appreciated the strong female character role he created who also has real weaknesses to overcome. The addition of M-BOT, an AI spaceship, is a strong secondary character that adds entertaining insight and humor into the storyline. His desire be "alive" like a human is a bittersweet adventure for him. Sanderson takes many of his characters and allows them to evolve into something different than what they are; something the reader does not expect. Sometimes it's a good thing. Sometimes not. But the lead character continues on her mission, deciding at each step what the "right thing" is that she needs to do.
