Good but not great.
Revisado: 06-23-24
I like jack carr as a person and as a writer. I was a ranger and 4 Paraguay with airborne reconnaissa not.Quite the pedigree of jack but i've been around so I can relate to a lot of what he writes.
I've enjoyed this series very much, This book felt a little bit more forced than the other ones. And by that I just mean the other books felt like they had a little bit more direction. However this novel was still fantastic. The only thing that's starting to get to me which isn't different than other novels of this ilk. Is there so many situations that the character is in Where in any real life scenario if someone like james reese who is causing all sorts of problems for all sorts of people, In the real world when you have somebody like that.Who's as dangerous as this man is you kill him and count your losses. You don't interrogate him.You don't tie him to chairs. You don't torture him.You don't let him sit around when he calls so many problems and gotten out of so many situations. And in all of these similar novels the grayman orphan x, Joe ledger the list of characters goes on and on It does get a little repetitive when they're constantly just in these impossible situations and always find a way out.And it's not that they're always finding a way out is that gets old is the fact that they're not just being killed.Because that's what would really happen. For the most.
Part that's my only complaint.
I'm curious to see where the story goes from here.Because it's pretty much rapped up. So if Jack continues the James Story , i'm curious the direction he goes.
Very about any typos don't have to proof read

Historia
Ansley Park is one of Atlanta’s most desirable neighborhoods. But in one mansion, in a teenager’s lavish bedroom, a girl has been savagely murdered. In the hallway, her horrified mother stands amid shattered glass, having killed her daughter’s attacker with her bare hands. Detective Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is here only to do a political favor; the murder site belongs to the Atlanta police. But Trent soon sees something the cops are missing, something in the trail of blood, in a matrix of forensic evidence, and in the eyes of the shell-shocked mother.

terrible narrator I do not know why they switch
Revisado: 11-12-23
Whoever read the first book did a great job. It was the first book that I've listened to within. But I might look up some other stuff with him as well. I felt like he did the character justice. Though the Atlanta accent wasn't spot one, it wasn't terrible. I've met many people down south who sounded just like that. I was stationed in fort bragg, north carolinand you would for sure run into people that sounded the way he was portraying.
I really like the wheel Trent character, and this is actually the third time. I've come back to these novels. However I just can't get past book three, This time around, I'm having a hard time even getting passed book tdo because the narrator is terrible. I don't mind a woman doing the role of a man there. Several of the other books where it works, just fine, But this in particular is terrible. There is absolutely no even attempt at playing the role. She's just reading words on a page. Sometimes you can't even tell when she's done. It settings and when the characters change. If you're not listening, you miss it because there is absolutely no deviation in the voice for anyone. I would really like to get through the rest of these books. But unless the reread I never will.

If you're still reading at this point clearly you
Revisado: 03-03-23
If you're still reading at this point Is clearly you still enjoy the story. Overall I love this series from book one tilt now I've been totally on board I enjoy the characters I enjoy the history that's been developed over the 20 sum books I enjoy the narrator. For the most part I enjoy everything about this series.
What I will say is the excitement and the twists and all of that stuff hasn't been the same as the earlier books the story is not as gripping the endings not as climatic however it doesn't really bother me because I'm so invested in the characters for me at this point every book is character growth and the story obviously continues. Yes you can get a little political but again if you're still reading don't b**** about it you're used to it by now and you know it's coming. I live out in this area I live over in Idaho, However I was born and raised in Philadelphia and I spend a lot of time in Montana and Wyoming and for the most part allow the politics and the concerns of the people and stuff are fairly accurate for the region so if you don't like that part of the story and you don't live out here get over it if you do live out here and you don't like that part of the story We're at like book 24 stop reading. I also spend a lot of time in the military so as much as people want to ignore all the bureaucratic b******* that these books do touch base on sorry it is what is really going on you can hate CJ Box for mentioning it all you want is it completely accurate no but is it accurate it is. All in all I love what CJ Box is doing it's a great series fantastic characters but you have to start at book one.

Historia
King and Slater are independent operators, outlawed from their government for good, free to deliver vigilante justice. Las Vegas, with its murky history and seedy underworld, serves as the perfect hunting ground. Below the hedonism, away from the bright lights and alluring fantasy, there’s an entrenched web of corruption. They offer their services to a woman about to serve a decade in prison for a crime she didn’t commit, and what begins with the infiltration of an unlicensed club in Chinatown unravels into an all-out war against retired cops and bent judges.

Good series read review
Revisado: 05-11-22
The series is growing on me with each book. It happeriod it has decent characters.. My issue and why I gave this 2 stars is I don't know what happened to the writing In this book and the one before it But it seems like every other line is " she said" or he "he said" There's a million different ways to write It's almost painful to listen to over and over and over he said she said she said she said she said hes sad holy f*** man find other words

Good story and good characters. It's no Joe ledger or John Dempsey but still very good still very good. I've read a little bit of complaints about the narrator and not really sure they're justified hes hes no ray porter but hes very good.
