Honestly, knowing what I know now about the man, I’m impressed with him on a whole new level.

Thank you for such an honest and candid life story. I came from tough beginnings and made something of myself and it was so amazing to hear your story. I’ll be sharing parts of this with my kids.

A perspective shift is always welcome.

This book is evidence that so much of what we believe is true is just not. Most of our assumptions are based on things we hear based on others assumptions. NOT science.

the research shared in this book has had me thinking for weeks. In fact, as I have read other books, the ideas found in this one about organization, flow, and so many other principles have appeared in less effective ways all around me. I can suddenly see things that need to be improved, changed, or just plain reworked from the ground up.

Jane McGonical is a genius. Her ideas are crucial to the future.

EVERYONE should read this book.

Honestly, there is so much here I am not sure where to start.

Lets just put it this way. if you like a well thought out magic system, an unlikely team up, a story about regular people changing the course of history, and a Tim Gerard Reynolds as a narrator... This is 100% for you. It is LONG. But it plays well, and holds your attention.

It is 3 books in one. Worth a credit at twice the price.

I love his narration. So much I will listen to anything he reads.

This book is a lot more of the first one. With a heavier dose of sexy women, and sex. LOTS OF SEX.

The book is funny. The plot plays out like an old bond movie, with a dose of magic. The main character is beyond one dimensional. He could be so much more. but nope. just a sex crazed nice guy. No real motivations other than that.

It is a fun read. Especially because of Luke.

Honestly, I feel like this book is just unfinished. The ending was just getting good, and then... boom... "to be continued".

That was frustrating. But otherwise, the writing is good. The plot becomes more and more twisted. The graphic sex was kept to a minimum, which I preferred. although, it should be noted that there is LOTS of adult content. Still not for kids. and you should know that by book three;)

The genesis of this part of the series is basically the quest of Arthur building and collecting power into the final fight with the darkness. And it does this well, and then... well, just stops. It left me reeling.

I don't want to spoil anything. but I am assuming the 4th book will provide what I was expecting at the end of this one. We shall see.

I figured this would be another sword and sorcery. And it would fade.

I finished the book a week and a half ago. Read 3 other books since, and I am still thinking about this one.

The great hearts are creatures. At first they feel like magical beings. In a medieval world. But as the story continues you learn so much more. I don't want to give any of this away, because the story unfolds so well. Ugh. what can I say that won't give it away.

The story is one of vengeance... but also loyalty. Two boys survive a horrible slaughter. And decide to grow into men of vengeance. The monster they hunt is horrific. The dark nature of the beginning sets up the story to be a gore/horror fest. Which it doesn't turn out to be.

The two main characters, Calidan and Cassius, are loyal to each other and the emperor. And the relationship there is awesome. You sort of grow up with them, which is a story arc I always love to read. Combine that with Calidan's relationship with Seya (the great heart) and things grow into something amazing.

The world building is wonderful. The great-hearts and some other things I will keep secret are wonderful ideas, and explored well. It is sort of just wonderful surprise after wonderful surprise.

The narrator killed it. He was so good. SO GOOD.

I cannot wait to listen to book 2!!!

Honestly, I knew what I was getting into in reading part 2.

And the story progresses well. The main character finds things getting truly hard in The Builders Greed. New characters that are really interesting show up, and some revelations about existing characters come out. Looking at you Sam.

I liked how the story became more complex. We learn more about Dread, and the Darkness. But also, how the warped Chemistry between Arthur and all his... playmates, sort of falls apart and creates a new level of challenge that Arthur just has no clue about. After he breaks his magical sword... things get real.

NOTE: More of the graphic sexual content. If you are sensitive to this, you should steer clear.

But, hands down, the best part of the series thus far, and the shining star in the book is the sculpting contest. It was fantastic. And written very well. I loved the ending. I loved all of it. Hoping for more gems like this in book 3.

And they work together.

This is the beginning of a series. The Legendary builder is an average guy who bought an old rusty sword in a pawn shop. As it happens, the blade is magical, and Arthur Curie finds himself in the middle of the fight between heaven and hell. The darkness is coming.

And apparently both sides, need Arthur to hold things at bay.

It is ridiculous and irreverent and fun. Mix in a healthy dose of video game RPG elements and you have a pretty good idea of what this is. Arthur's sword lets him level up his people, and build a strategic position to challenge the darkness.

NOTE: there are many moments of college level sexual content. I mean, there are moments that feel like a young man's wet-dream. You have been warned.

All in all the book was very enjoyable. Gary does a great job narrating. He makes it interesting. I will be looking into more of his narrations.

This book was fun. More realistic than many of these types of stories. And that made it suck me in even that much more. There's no people being assimilated or anything like that. But there is a good plot, excellent characters, and an interesting plot dynamic that moves the story along.

I really enjoyed the ending. It was so refreshing to feel a story come to a close and not be left open ended for another sequel.

Joe Hempel did a great job reading. His tempo was perfect. And he did all the characters justice.

I think my favorite part of the book is having a main character who is disabled. And not only that but having him be strong and a leader. This is such a detour from the typical use of disabilities in story's today. Thanks for giving us that. And the moment at the end when he is nervous about how he will be perceived by a woman when she realizes hes disabled. it was honest and I loved it.

Great book.

Sin of Mages: Rift of Chaos is an epic type fantasy series. I seems like an extended series from the components put in place in this first book.

The plot was really good. A master mage has to stop his 4 evil students who he loves like his own children. The struggle between his need to stop them, and his love for them is interesting. I loved that it had a magic system that seemed like a Sanderson sort of thing except using the more common air, fire, earth, water plus two new ones, cosmo and devine. Many of the characters are likable. And many are hate worthy. that is good.

And speaking of characters, there are LOTS of characters. I struggled with all the names or people and places and i believe names of. They are all exotic sounding. A little too exotic. Akielas, Exsio, Darmang, Oseth, Auron, Cleyross, Jairo, etc. About halfway through I was struggling to keep track of it all. But I ended up really enjoying the story.

Now, the main problem for me. It was the audio. The narrator did a fine job. Seriously. I enjoyed his voice, and his tempo. But the production quality irritated me to the very end. It sounds like they recorded in a glass room with and omni-directional mic to capture all the echoes. The background echo was so distracting for me. I am wondering if they could send this to an audio guy and have it removed. Fix that and this series is a diamond in the rough.

NOTE: There are a few adult moments in the book. with graphic descriptions of "thrusting inside of her" etc. NOT a book for children with that content.

Thanks for the opportunity to listen. I received this audiobook as a gift in exchange for my honest review.
