Amy Nicols (Lizzy Caplan) was an FBI agent with a dogged need to protect everyone—until that instinct caused her to mishandle a crisis, lose innocent lives, and lose her job. Now a civilian working in private security, that mistake still haunts her. One morning on the commuter train, she overhears a young couple plotting a murder. Historia
A soldier, former member of Congress, and a presidential candidate, Tulsi loves her country: "I answered the call of duty and took an oath, dedicating my life to supporting and defending those freedoms, both in uniform and in public office. I became a Democrat when I ran for office because I saw them as a party that stood up for the little guy and against the interests of big business and warmongers. I remained a Democrat for twenty years, albeit with an independent streak." Today that party is unrecognizable.

Enlightening No Matter Which Side of the Asle
Revisado: 03-19-25
Great listening to Tulsi Gabbard story.
I found this to be very interesting and enlightening.
As a fellow serviceman, to think that the power brokers would be willing to do what she describes in her book is maddening.
Her first hand account proves to me what I have thought over the last decade or so. Career politicians don't care about the American people, they crave power and are willing to do anything to keep it!!
Thanks You Tulsi for writing this book, God Bless You!!

Well written and acted "radio" play!!
Cobie Smulders is wonderful as always. The character reminds me of other parts she has played. Hard yet with a soft side.
Listen to this you won't be disappointed.

Historia
In the second half of the tenth century, Byzantium embarked on a series of spectacular conquests. By the early eleventh century, the empire was the most powerful state in the Mediterranean. Yet this imperial project came to a crashing collapse fifty years later, when political disunity, fiscal mismanagement, and defeat at the hands of the Seljuks and the Normans brought an end to Byzantine hegemony. By 1081, Byzantium's very existence was threatened.

Historia
When Vicksburg fell to Union forces under General Grant in July 1863, the balance turned against the Confederacy in the trans-Appalachian theater. The Federal success along the river opened the way for advances into central and eastern Tennessee, which culminated in the bloody battle of Chickamauga and then a struggle for Chattanooga. Chickamauga is usually counted as a Confederate victory, albeit a costly one.

Outstanding Story
Revisado: 12-01-24
The author pulls no punches. Points out the mistakes by both sides.
Well worth the read, and I feel a much over looked campaign.
Author continues items I have read recently that Longstreet wasn't all that great as an independent commander. Some might even say poor!!
Rosecrans got lucky to be facing Bragg as both should have been replaced much earlier in the war!!
Well worth you time and an interesting read!!

Good Stories of the Golden Age of Pirates
Revisado: 10-18-24
I found this book to be informative and an easy listen.
I only have one issue with this book and that is with the Narrator. He attempts in my opinion to do accents to break up the story. I find this to be a distracting occurrence. I wish he had just read the book!!

Historia
Many consider the Battle of Midway to have turned the tide of the Pacific War. It is without question one of the most famous battles in history. Now, for the first time since Gordon W. Prange's best-selling Miracle at Midway, Jonathan Parshall and Anthony Tully offer a new interpretation of this great naval engagement. Shattered Sword makes extensive use of Japanese primary sources. It also corrects the many errors of Mitsuo Fuchida's Midway: The Battle That Doomed Japan It thus forces a major, potentially controversial reevaluation of the great battle.

WOW what a fascinating look at this battle.
Revisado: 09-17-24
As a Navy man I have read countless books on Midway, played simulations, and celebrated Midway Day each year.
This book puts a completely different light on the battle. It dispelled a number of "facts" using the Japanese after action reports to do so. It ties up loose ends of the battle for me. A must read for those wanting to see the battle from the other side. Many fascinating aspects to this book, that I won't mention you will just have to read \ listen to the book for yourself.
Well do to the authors and the narrator the book keeps your interest from start to finish!!

One of the most important and objective firsthand accounts of the Civil War. Unlike some other Confederate memoirists, General Edward Porter Alexander objectively evaluated and criticized prominent Confederate officers, including Robert E. Lee. The result is a clear-eyed assessment of the bloody conflict that divided but subsequently united the nation.

Best Said by Others
Revisado: 08-19-24
I can't say it better then they can. Hands down the best book of personal experiences of the Civil War!!
raised by Douglas Southall Freeman as "altogether the best critique of the operations of the Army of Northern Virginia."
Alexander eschewed the bitter Lost Cause theories of why the South was doomed to fail, given the overwhelming superiority of the North. He was willing to express in writing his criticisms of prominent Confederate officers, including General Lee himself. Many historians regard Alexander's memoirs as among the most objective and sharpest sources produced by a Civil War combatant. David Eicher called Fighting for the Confederacy "a superb personal narrative with a good deal of analysis of Lee's operations ... Dramatic and revealing, an important source on the general, his fellow officers, and the Army of Northern Virginia."
