A Great Time
Revisado: 02-26-23
An excellent story of adventure without falling into tropes. Only issue are a few areas where the perspective shifts away from the dwarfs but these parts can be skipped with little issues, or can be listened to more than I did. Overall Works great as a standalone even if you have not read/listened to the previous novel and is a great time for any fan of the Kharadron Overlords.

As work takes them to Australia, Maddie is goaded into a brief, seemingly harmless bet with her enigmatic boss - where they have to tell the complete truth to each other. It backfires catastrophically.

An eye opener
Revisado: 02-09-23
I love this book. Really and truly love this book. It accomplishes several things. Making the progression of a relationship believable even in the most unlikely of situations, and gives the characters a level of depth that is surprising. Any smaller gripes in this novel are minor and easily forgiven. The overall story is one of the best for the genre, with characters who are complex and believable. Add to this the peerless Angela Dawe and you have a masterpiece.

Historia
The Lily and the Crown is a lesbian scifi romance about daring to risk your heart with someone you shouldn’t. Ariana “Ari” Geiker lives an isolated life on an imperial space station commanded by her father. Her nameless slave is watchful, intelligent, dangerous, and sexy, and seems to know an awful lot about tactics, star charts, and the dread, marauding pirate queen, Mir. What happens when the slave also reveals an expertise in seduction to her innocent mistress?

Unique in Unique way
Revisado: 02-08-23
First off all, I want to make things clear. I love this book, it is fun, romantic, all wrapped in a classic lesbian romance novel of hidden agendas. The characters are interesting, and manages to make the main character be blindingly naive to what is obvious to the listener, and believe that she is that naive, and you are not frustrated that a character is acting out of character or breaking suspension of disbelief.
Now, my only gripe is, that for a sci-fi story, there is little to no description of the world itself, I mean, zero. There are space ships, space stations, hyperspace travel, and there is no description if any of it. Now, I do not expect a vast, galaxy spanning setting all carefully fluffed out and thought through, but there is such little detail, that I have no idea what anything looks like. This is what makes it unique, though as a sci-fi fan, it is frustrating in the extreme.
Luckily for the book however, Angela Dawe can make literally anything thoroughly engrossing and music to the ears.

A fun romp with some flaws
Revisado: 09-27-20
First of all, I enjoyed this book a lot. It was fun and funny with serious moments spaced out well. However, this book was advertised as focusing on the ork perspective. Upon listening, it was only about one third to one half, with the rest of the actual plot and meaty story happening to the mechanicus and lurking enemies there in. The ork perspective you get, feels like a Mary Sue with everything going too well.
It is, however, a fun listen with a good reader. Has problems, but is good.

Historia
Logen Ninefingers, infamous barbarian, has finally run out of luck. Caught in one feud too many, he's on the verge of becoming a dead barbarian - leaving nothing behind him but bad songs, dead friends, and a lot of happy enemies. Nobleman, dashing officer, and paragon of selfishness, Captain Jezal dan Luthar has nothing more dangerous in mind than fleecing his friends at cards and dreaming of glory in the fencing circle. But war is brewing, and on the battlefields of the frozen North they fight by altogether bloodier rules.
