Historia
Combining historical research with an in-depth analysis of our modern political landscape, Erasing History issues a dire warning for America and the world: the worst fascist movements of humanity’s past began in schools; the same place so many of today’s right-wing political parties have trained their most vicious attacks. Yale professor Jason Stanley exposes the true danger of the right’s tactics and traces their inspirations and funding back to some of the most dangerous ideas of human history.

A important book
Revisado: 09-30-24
Jason Stanley’s clear vision of how and why authoritarianism is rising should be required reading in all high schools.

Historia
Wheeler Burden - banking heir, philosopher, student of history, legend's son, rock idol, writer, lover, recluse, half-Jew, and Harvard baseball hero - one day finds himself wandering not in his hometown of San Francisco in 1988 but in a city and time he knows mysteriously well: Vienna, 1897. Before long, Wheeler acquires a mentor in Sigmund Freud, a bitter rival, a powerful crush on a luminous young woman, and encounters everyone from an eight-year-old Adolf Hitler to Mark Twain, as well as the young members of his own family.

Good book, not such a good reading
Revisado: 01-10-10
As the child of Viennese parents, I enjoyed this playful story but I cringed every time the narrator slaughtered another Viennese German word. I can't believe he didn't even bother to look up the pronunciation of Wien! I found this recording almost unbearable to listen to.
