The continuing tale of the hapless Lady MacBeth.
Revisado: 11-16-23
The story of Lady McBeth continues…loved this second book as much as the first. Cannot wait to see how the author will develop her path. The plot is gripping. The story is narrated authentically. Definitely a compelling choice if you have ever seen or read MacBeth and wondered about his queen.

Historia
Scotland, 1026 - Gruoch, descendant of the line of MacAlpin, should have been born into a life of ease. But fate is fickle. Her father's untimely death, rumored to have been plotted by King Malcolm, leaves her future uncertain and stained by the prophecy that she will avenge her family line. Escaping to one of the last strongholds of the old Celtic gods, Gruoch becomes an adept in arcane craft. Her encounters with the otherworld, however, suggest that magic runs stronger in Scotland than she ever imagined.

Clever twist on a well known tale.
Revisado: 11-15-23
This is the story of Lady Macbeth, told from her point of view. It’s a clever new twist on the story told by Shakespeare. I’m intrigued by Cobie’s early history. Finding the plaintive thread of Banquo and Corbie’s love story very compelling and will definitely be listening to the follow up novel soon. I thought it was narrated beautifully. Thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish.

Historia
The Colour of Magic, the first novel in Terry Pratchett's wildly imaginative Discworld series, takes the listener on a remarkable journey. The magical planet of Discworld is supported by four massive elephants who stand on the back of the Great A'Tuin, a giant turtle swimming slowly through the mysterious interstellar gulf. An eccentric expedition sets out to explore the planet, encountering dragons who only exist if you believe in them, and, of course, 'The Edge' of the planet.

A first adventure into the ingenious and hilarious alternative Universe of Terry Pratchett’s invention.
Revisado: 09-09-21
An imaginative tale that introduces the Disc World and a whole series of improbable characters to us. Terry Pratchett’s imagination is surpassed only by his witty and elegant turn of phrase. Nigel Planer is a most consummate narrator who helps to bring the author’s creation to life most effectively. This narrative has no parallel. It will suit any reader who loves a good story, beautifully told, along with witty descriptions that keep the laughter going to the very end!

Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.

A satisfying tale from a wonderful imaginary world
Revisado: 11-13-19
This story draws the reader in from the very beginning. It is both easy to read and beautifully written. I was completely immersed in a world of Dragons, Riders, Elves and Dwarfs from start to finish. As satisfying as LOR. Absolutely loved it.

Austen is a winner again!
Revisado: 03-19-18
Would you listen to The Complete Novels : Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion again? Why?
I love Jane Austen's work and I can read one of the books anytime. The narrator is very good. It can be excruciating if a popular book is narrated badly but Ms Larkin does this really well.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Complete Novels : Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion?
Always, I am drawn to the crises in the stories-Willoughby and Eleanor with Marianne, at death's door upstairs; Anne Elliot reading Captain Wentworth's letter to her at the end of Persuasion; Ms Crawford's soliloquy upon Tom Bertram's illness. I have loved Mr Palmer in this version.
What about Alison Larkin’s performance did you like?
This is read very well and Ms Larkin does have a voice and an inflection which engages the reader. She has a great understanding and empathy with the characters.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
They are my comfort reading and listening.
Any additional comments?
A very sound investment, thank you. I'll use this heavily.
