This book was amazing and yea, at times I could tell the narrator may have been stuffy, but I was able to totally overlook it because I was so wrapped up in the story!!! I honestly ENJOYED THE NARRATOR and thought she did an amazing job tell this story!!!

This is one of my all time favorite series ever! Im currently listening to the series again, for the third time!! Every time I get in a reading slump, its my go to! All three books in the series are just as great as the o e before it. Julia Whelan NEVER disappoints as a narrator. She can totally transport the listener into the story and by the end you feel like you personally know every character in the book!!

If you love Kristin Hannah and If the narrator of a book is as big a deal for you as it is me, then KEEP READING! This is a REALLY GOOD STORY!! Narration is a big deal for me and I knew from the first part of chapter one that it wasnt going to be easy to listen, BUT IM GLAD I PUSHED THROUGH! I got used to the narrator because the story got really interesting and my interest in the storyline was stronger then my dislike for the narrator. Dont judge the book by other reviews! No, its not as good as “The Four Winds” or “The Great Alone” as those are my two favorite KH books, but this is a close 3rd so far! Give it a chance! Im sure you will agree!!!

If you are looking for a book to read, I highly recommend this one! I’ve really been into audible books over the last year or so (I listen as Im falling asleep). Not only is this book one of the best Ive read, the narrator totally brings this book to life! It follows the life of two sisters during WW2. It gives an very real, immersive look into what life was like for a woman during that time in history. It’s a heartbreaking but empowering story of strength and perseverance. Ive read a couple other books by this same author and really enjoyed them, but this book (especially the audible version) is incredible. 🥰

I do absolutely love this series! Not many series of books I have stuck with this far in! The only thing that irritates me more and more with every book is the amount of writing surround Emily’s “thoughts”. So much of it is unnecessary. I use audible and end up zoning out and then having to go back because I zoned out too long. Also, I would love to see Emily mature a little more. Her fears and insecurities are becoming a little dramatic, lol..... But overall this is an excellent series!
