Historia
Harry Booth started stealing at nine to keep a roof over his ailing mother’s head, slipping into luxurious, empty homes at night to find items he could trade for precious cash. When his mother finally succumbed to cancer, he left Chicago—but kept up his nightwork, developing into a master thief with a code of honor and an expertise in not attracting attention—or getting attached.

Not at all what I was expecting
Revisado: 06-06-22
I normally love Nora Roberts but I couldn’t get into this book at all. The narration was bland and boring and the story was slow. I ended up dnfing it and shelved if for another time but I’m pretty sure that I won’t be going back.

Historia
Some days, all you need is a message from a stranger. Ruby Santos knew exactly what she was getting herself into when she signed up to write a soldier overseas. The guidelines were simple: one letter or email a week for the length of his or her deployment. Care packages were optional. Been there, done that. She thought she knew what to expect. What she didn't count on was falling in love with the guy.

Too Slow for My Liking
Revisado: 04-14-22
I love Mariana Zapata but I found that this book was really slow in parts. It was sweet but nothing very exciting or interesting happened beyond the letters and messages between the two main characters. It wasn’t bad, it just didn’t hold my interest.

Re •sent •ment: The act of hating - no, f--king loathing Dean Collins. (Yes, I'm well aware that's not the actual definition, but it might as well be....) It's been 10 years since we've seen each other, and the feelings are still as strong. I'm not going to bore you with all the details of how our love was once intoxicating, consuming, and perfect. Because it was...until it wasn't. I've been fine without him. I haven't missed his cruelty, his coldness, and his spite. And after the ugliest breakup in the history of breakups, I forced myself to move on.

Disappointing
Revisado: 03-15-22
1. The female character’s narrator was fine in small doses but started to grate on me, becoming more annoying the longer I listened and it probably did affect my overall enjoyment/rating.
2. The reason for the blame, resentment and mistreatment of the heroine by the H was a bit ridiculous. I found it very hard to buy into regardless of how the H supposedly perceived things. It made it really difficult to like the guy and root for them as a couple - even after finding out why he reacted the way that he did.
3. I love angsty books that rip your heart out before piecing it back together (and the story did have some of that) but the way things ended up playing out left me a bit flat.
4. I thought that the story had the potential to be so much better. I’ll probably try reading another book by this author at some point in the future

Historia
It started as a game. We flirted. We played. Most importantly - we won. Then I discovered who he was: Gambler. Famous playboy. And my best friend’s soon-to-be brother in law, Cullen Carmichael. He needed a good luck charm, I needed a distraction. So we made a gamble and set off for Vegas - but pretty soon - I was in too deep. My heart, soul, and body weren't supposed to be part of the deal. But somewhere between big wins and long nights, my house of cards started to tumble. I’d given up on love, but the wicked, all-in Cullen Carmichael was upping the ante and wouldn’t stop until he’d won it all.

Underwhelming
Revisado: 02-03-19
I’d been looking forward to Wynn and Cullen’s romance for awhile but was underwhelmed with both the story and the female narrator. The story never really stirred much emotion in me and was more about the sex than the substance.
Maybe my expectations were a bit high going into the book? I’m not really sure. I mean it wasn’t awful, I just think that it could have been so much better.

The Hookup

I miss the angsty Kristen Ashley stories that could break my heart, make me laugh, cry, rage and swoon. The Hookup had the potential to do all of those things but never quite got there.
The story wasn’t bad, it just could have been so much more.

Mason Kade is the dream. He is the promise. He's offering what so many would fantasize about, and it's not that I don't want it/him/us. It's the opposite. There might be ghosts haunting me, but this man who's my soul mate is asking me for forever. How can I say no to someone who already gave me my happily ever after?

Liked it more than I expected
Revisado: 11-14-17
I liked this book more than I thought I would. I’d stopped reading the series after book 4 and didn’t plan on picking it up again but I’m glad that I did.
My only issue had to do with the female narrator - I liked her voice as Sam but really didn’t care for her narration of the male characters (Mason, Logan, Nate, etc.). For the first time ever, I found Logan annoying and I really think it’s because of the way she did his voice. I thought that the male narrator did a great job of voicing Mason, though.
If you liked the first three books in the Fallen Crest series, I think you’ll probably enjoy this one.

Dana Sue might run the best little restaurant in Serenity, but when you're feeding a small town of neighbors, busybodies, and best friends, things can get a bit hot in the kitchen. Never mind that she's putting on too many pounds (an occupational hazard for a chef)—she's worried about her too-skinny teenage daughter, Annie, who has been slowly starving herself since the loud, suitcase-tossing, name-calling fit on her front lawn that left Dana Sue minus one cheating husband.

Slow Paced
Revisado: 10-22-17
I found the story to be a bit too sweet and sorely lacking in the angst department. I liked the narrator, characters, friendships and the premise of the story but it was just so slow paced and boring at times that I couldn’t wait to finish and move on to a new book.

Liked the story
Revisado: 07-01-17
What three words best describe Shayna Thibodeaux’s performance?
I don't have 3 words. I thought that her voice sounded too old for the main character and that she did a much better job of voicing the secondary characters.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the story but found the (main character) narration distracting. It took me a while to get into it but once I did, I was able to overlook my issue with the narration.

Mercy
Revisado: 08-18-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I enjoyed the narrator and some parts of the story so I don't consider it a waste of time.
What could Jodi Picoult have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
She could have spent more time focusing on one story instead of two.
What about Alyssa Bresnahan’s performance did you like?
I thought she was great and plan on looking up other books that she's narrated.
What would have made this romance irresistible?
****SPOILERS****

I mostly always enjoy stories that involve infidelity but I don't like it when there is easy forgiveness or being left with the feeling that the person who cheated is pretty much just settling because he can't have what he wants and puts no real effort/groveling into getting back together with the person he cheated on. The heroine deserves better than that and I thought that she came off looking rather weak just as she had started to become stronger and more assertive.
I would have much rather had the majority of the book dedicated to what happened between Allie and Cam (and the aftermath) than to have had their story compete a second one about a different couple.
Any additional comments?
Mercy is the first book that I've read by this author and I loved her writing style. I do plan to read more of JP's work again in the future.
