Nine…will there be ten?
Revisado: 03-03-23
Well developed characters even if a little predictable. Just enough suspense to keep reading. Quite believable.

Good story
Revisado: 04-17-22
I enjoyed the story very much. Suspense, mystery and just a little bit of romance. Also, historical aspects seemed to be well researched and presented. One complaint…why do authors feel inclined to use profanity? The story could have been made richer my Ellis praying to God when his car wouldn’t turn over instead of praying to the car. The story was cheapened by taking the name of Jesus in vain…by calling for God’s damnation instead of His care and protection. I wish authors would get a clue of how absolutely unnecessary this is.

Historia
While there are many books about writing, none deal firsthand with the intersection of songwriting, storytelling, and vocation, along with nuts-and-bolts exploration of the great mystery of creativity. In Adorning the Dark, Andrew describes six principles for the writing life: serving the work, serving the audience, selectivity, discernment, discipline, and community. Through stories from his own journey, Andrew shows how these principles are not merely helpful for writers and artists but for anyone interested in imitating the way the Creator interacts with his creation.

Thoughtful and honest
Revisado: 04-18-21
I have been a fan of Andrew Peterson for 20 years. I’ve listened to his music, read the Wingfeather Saga and also listened to the whole set on audible. That’s why I had to read Adorning the Dark. I wanted to know a little more about the mind behind “toothy cows” and the Sock Man. I was not disappointed. I found this work thoughtful, honest and even inspiring for any artist who wonders if they should carry on. I also appreciated his promotion and recommendation of authors, musicians, and song writers as I’m always looking for a good book to read and listening to music is the best way to calm this savage beast. “After that meal down at the mission, there is love.” ~Andrew Peterson~

I believe this is my favorite so far!
Revisado: 11-23-19
I’ve read several Kate Morton novels and believe this is my favorite one so far. There is the typical entwining of characters and plots, tragedy and loss, but also redemption and healing. Some reviewers suggested that the length of the book left them bored with the plot. I could not disagree more! I enjoyed every page and finished listening with a smile.

Because We Are: A Novel of Haiti was brilliant!
Revisado: 06-28-17
I loved this book! The characters were well developed and believable. Liberte made me laugh and cry. Again and again, with just the right amount of (Devine?) guidance from unlikely heroes, she rises above her circumstances to do the right thing. I never forgot she was "just a child" as she often reminded her elders, friends, and readers. But her accomplishments were never unreal or fantastic. Her prayers to God were full of emotion and it wasn't difficult to see His hand in the completion of the task at hand. She had not just faith in the value of her prayers but an expectation for their answering. This story also reminded me how often we do not pray until that is all we have left to do. I want everyone to read Because We Are. I read it on my Kindle and also listened to the audio version. Bahni Turpin was mesmerizing and without compare!

Why did the author feel the need to increase the cursing and profanity? The story would have been equally as good without it!
