Historia
Four hundred years in the future the Earth has turned primitive, following a nuclear fire that laid waste to civilization and nature. Though the radiation fallout has ended, for some unknowable reason every person is born with a twin. Of each pair one is an Alpha - physically perfect in every way - and the other an Omega burdened with deformity, small or large.

Disappointing
Revisado: 05-30-15
I had high hopes for this and liked the concept, but it never really panned out. At points it was like reading to Thoreau. Too much descriptive detail without much plot.

Historia
Vincent waited lifetimes to find me, but in an instant our future together has been shattered. He was betrayed by Violette, someone we both called a friend, and I lost him. Now Violette is determined to rule over France's immortals, and she's willing to wage a war to get what she wants. It shouldn't be possible, none of it should be, but this is my reality. I know Vincent is somewhere out there, I know he's not completely gone, and I will do anything to save him.

Predictable
Revisado: 05-18-15
The first two books were great but this one was just so predictable. From the set up of the first handful of chapters and from the previous books, it's pretty obvious what is going to happen. Everything fits neatly together at the end, which is okay, but I wish it was a little more unexpected or there were more twists getting there.

Historia
It's been three months since Amy escaped New Hope. Since she's seen Baby, or Kay, or Rice. And she's been surviving on her own, like she did before she was "rescued" and taken to what she thought was a safe haven. Then, in the midst of foraging for supplies, her former fellow Guardian's voice rings out in her earpiece. And in a desperate tone, Kay utters the four words Amy had hoped she would never hear: Dr. Reynolds has Baby.

Great story. At first I was skeptical of the zombie apocalypse type thing but after a few chapters I was fully engrossed.

Historia
In Sloane’s world, true feelings are forbidden, teen suicide is an epidemic, and the only solution is The Program. Sloane knows better than to cry in front of anyone. With suicide now an international epidemic, one outburst could land her in The Program, the only proven course of treatment. Sloane’s parents have already lost one child; Sloane knows they’ll do anything to keep her alive. She also knows that everyone who’s been through The Program returns as a blank slate. Because their depression is gone - but so are their memories.

Addicting!
Revisado: 02-16-15
There was another person who posted that they listened to the book in two days. Me too! I listened to it in bed, in the car, when I woke up, while I was on the toilet... I HAD to know what happened next. I almost bought a text version thinking I could read it faster than I could listen.
Some people didn't like the voice of the performer but I thought she did a decent job. She didn't over-perform which I find very annoying but she still added in laughs and inflection where appropriate. The thing to keep in mind is that throughout there is an undercurrent of fear inside and outside the characters speaking so narrating the story in an overly enthused way would seem out of place with the story.
I highly recommend all around!

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

What did you love best about The Book Thief?
This is one of those books that is so good, I was actually depressed after I finished. All I can say is I was so captured from start to end, that when it was over, I became convinced I'd never read another book quite as good. The audio version was fantastic as well.

Historia
In 1993 Greg Mortenson was the exhausted survivor of a failed attempt to ascend K2, an American climbing bum wandering emaciated and lost through Pakistan's Karakoram Himalaya. After he was taken in and nursed back to health by the people of an impoverished Pakistani village, Mortenson promised to return one day and build them a school. From that rash, earnest promise grew one of the most incredible humanitarian campaigns of our time: Greg Mortenson's one-man mission to counteract extremism by building schools, especially for girls, throughout the breeding ground of the Taliban.

Oh God the Voice
Revisado: 10-24-13
What did you like best about Three Cups of Tea? What did you like least?
I'm sure the author is a lovely woman and her story and desire to investigate the real world of Muslim women is inspiring, but I could not get past her voice. The whiny, whisper that she spoke in made me crazy. She spoke without passion or enthusiasm even while describing intense and dramatic events. I don't know if this was by choice or this is her natural voice but I couldn't get through more than an hour of listening to her. I tried to ignore the monotone whine but it was really painfully annoying. It's a shame.

Historia
In search of adventure, 29-year-old Conor Grennan traded his day job for a year-long trip around the globe, a journey that began with a three-month stint volunteering at the Little Princes Children's Home, an orphanage in war-torn Nepal. Conor was initially reluctant to volunteer, unsure whether he had the proper skill, or enough passion, to get involved in a developing country in the middle of a civil war. But he was soon overcome by the herd of rambunctious, resilient children.

Captivating!!
Revisado: 08-04-13
What made the experience of listening to Little Princes the most enjoyable?
I loved this book!! I have the audio version and got it to entertain myself during my commute. I was frequently so enthralled by the story that I would sit in my car for 10 more minutes even after I arrived at work, because I couldn't stop listening. I actually looked forward to the commute! It's cliche, I know, but the story really did have me laughing out loud one minute and welling up with tears the next. I would highly recommend!
What does Conor Grennan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Conor does the voices so well, it really helps you visualize the children.
Any additional comments?
I think what really caught my attention was the frankness with which Conor told his story. He didn't pretend to be a Mother Teresa figure with a heart of gold. He was completely honest about why he went to Nepal and what his impressions were. He is so relatable, I very nearly felt like it was my close friend telling the story.
