Mediocre
Revisado: 08-20-24
Some decent points and ideas. Wasn’t a fan of the structuring… a list of 92 basically unorganized points. Not to mention far too much reliance on hearsay evidence, and dare I say opinion. Not a bad book if you have as much time to read as I do, but if you’re looking for more bang for your buck and time look elsewhere. The authors all too obvious aspiration to write the next “how to make friends and influence people” was a turn-off and, in my opinion, dismal failure.

A new take on long overdone and regurgitated archetypes. While certain things do signal it is one of the authors early works, it is captivating and satisfying.

Historia
The late Carl Rogers, founder of the humanistic psychology movement, revolutionized psychotherapy with his concept of "client-centered therapy." His influence has spanned decades, but that influence has become so much a part of mainstream psychology that the ingenious nature of his work has almost been forgotten. With a new introduction by Peter Kramer, this landmark book is a classic in its field and a must-listen for anyone interested in clinical psychology or personal growth.

Now more than ever everyone should read this

A still VERY pertinent summation on behavioral science and its possible applications. The fact that this was written and thought of so long ago gives me chills. Would love to believe it is still mostly theory and conjecture however I fear quite the opposite. Worth a read as an intro into possible population control, defense for such, as well as other resources to become more informed.

Welcome to Ringworld, an intermediate step between Dyson Spheres and planets. The gravitational force created by a rotation on its axis of 770 miles per second means no need for a roof. Walls 1,000 miles high at each rim will let in the sun and prevent much air from escaping. Larry Niven's novel, Ringworld, is the winner of the 1970 Hugo Award for Best Novel, the 1970 Nebula Award for Best Novel, and the 1972 Ditmars, an Australian award for Best International Science Fiction.

Really enjoyable book. Spend my time reading about 95 % nonfiction so I like to sprinkle in some alternatives. This one was great. Loved the scientific accuracy and story in general.

Historia
It is said that the practice of dream yoga deepens our awareness during all our experience: the dreams of the night; the dream-like experience of the day; and the bardo experiences after death. Indeed, the practice of dream yoga is a powerful tool of awakening, used for hundreds of years by the great masters of the Tibetan traditions. Unlike in the Western psychological approach to dreams, the ultimate goal of Tibetan dream yoga is the recognition of the nature of mind or enlightenment itself.

Throughout the land, hushed voices whisper of brittle ground and a faint scent of brimstone in the air—and Murtagh senses that something wicked lurks in the shadows of Alagaësia. So begins an epic journey into lands both familiar and untraveled.

Historia
As David Brooks observes, “There is one skill that lies at the heart of any healthy person, family, school, community organization, or society: the ability to see someone else deeply and make them feel seen—to accurately know another person, to let them feel valued, heard, and understood.” And yet we humans don’t do this well. All around us are people who feel invisible, unseen, misunderstood. In How to Know a Person, Brooks sets out to help us do better, posing questions that are essential for all of us: If you want to know a person, what kind of attention should you cast on them?

Ever hear the idea of therapists projecting, yea. Leave the meditations to someone that actually has experience. This book may be informative for some, however I’d say that if it is informative to you, you need to simply get deeper in touch with yourself, or do a lot of other work prior to your “little me’s”, or attachment styles. The author is very obsessed with a single idea of how things work and basically relates it to everything and everyone as if it’s a cure all. I am a fervent reader, about 3-4 books a week. I have only quit one previous book without finishing… if that says anything.
