Historia
The searing accounts of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Evgeniia Ginsberg, and Varlam Shalamov opened the world's eyes to the terrors of the Soviet Gulag. But not until now has there been a memoir of life inside the camps written from the perspective of an actual employee of the Secret police. In this riveting memoir, superbly translated by Deborah Kaple, Fyodor Mochulsky describes being sent to work as a boss at the forced labor camp of Pechorlag in the frozen tundra north of the Arctic Circle.

A very interesting "other point of view"
Revisado: 02-17-11
We have read a lot about Gulag, Kolyma, and so on. But never i had a chance to "see" the facts from the point of view of somebody who was standing on the "other side" of the fence. It has been a very interesting experience for me.

Historia
"If Robert Littell didn't invent the American spy novel," says Tom Clancy, "he should have." In this spectacular Cold-War-as-Alice-in-Wonderland epic, Littell, "the American le Carre," takes us down the rabbit hole and into the labyrinthine world of espionage that has been the CIA for the last half-century. "Ostensibly a single novel, The Company can also be listened to as an anthology of cracking good spy stories," says ( Publishers Weekly).

One of the best audiobook i have
Revisado: 02-17-11
English is not my maiden language, so i decided to subscribe to audible.com in order to improve my capability to understand spoken English "on the fly".
Usually i prefer historical books; but for once i decided to try a novel, although historically oriented.
I'm now down to part 6, and i'll rate it 6 stars, if it was possible. I can follow it very easily, i can follow the plot down into the most intriguing details, and the historical references, as far as i can cross-check, are very accurate.
I'll recommend it to everybody. I've seen some comments related to the profanities and other harsh words, but you cannot depict such characters in a realistic manner, if you censor yourself that way. This is not Swift's "Polite Conversations", nor a Nun's bedside reading; it is a cloak-and-dagger novel, the characters are for real, and you get historical accuracy as a free throw-in!
