This book is a mess. I thought it would be a book about wall street like Den of Thieves. Boy was I wrong! Its just a book about a coke snorting idiot and his personal problems.

Hurricane Katrina has ravaged New Orleans, leaving the streets and buildings flooded and the city awash with opportunists, looters, and vicious criminals. There is no order, no law. Police are shooting randomly at innocent people, prison guards have abandoned their posts, and bodies float through the streets and hang from trees.

It was ok

I got this book because Audible recommended it and I love New Orleans. I was very disapppointed. Its not a bad story, but I just couldn't get into it and really didn't care about the charicters.

Wow! You mean the government is listening to us? I had no idea. The book has a few interesting points to make but it jumps around too much.

So bad I can't finish it!
Revisado: 03-16-08
The narration is horrible. The writing is flat and boring. But besides that, the author only has one point to make and he keeps making the same point over and over again. If you listen to the first two chapters you have basically read the whole book.

Grisham doesn't know how to write a good spy novel
Revisado: 06-22-05
This book was a bit disappointing. I expect court room drama from Grisham not a spy novel. I have read some very good spy novels which made reading this book an absolute bore ? except for the travel. While this was not a true spy novel, it had enough badly written cloak and dagger stuff in it to make it frustrating. I?d like to recommend to Mr. Grisham that he let Tom Clancy write the spy novels.

Not bad but
Revisado: 06-22-05
This is not a bad book but after the Davinci Code it was a bit dissaponting. Also, like in the Davinci Code, by the end I am thinking just end the darn thing already. Brown tells a good story, but REALLY drags out the ending.

Historia
In Los Angeles in 1988, a 16-year-old girl disappeared from her home and was later found dead of a gunshot wound to the chest. The death appeared at first to be a suicide, but some of the evidence contradicted that scenario, and detectives came to believe this was in fact a murder. Despite a by-the-book investigation, no one was ever charged.

Good read as long as you overlook some faults
Revisado: 01-02-05
I really enjoyed it and found it hard to put down. If you like action-packed thrillers, you will love this book. There were a lot of plot twists that I didn't anticipate, which I enjoyed, and I liked the fact that not everything got wrapped up neatly at the end - it was more realistic that way.
However, the dialogue and characters are embarrassing--every male character is either enormous, unbelievably handsome, or has been through more firefights than they can count. Many of the characters are two dimensional and flat as are some the character interaction. The dialogue does not feel realistic, and about halfway through the book the effort to suspend disbelief gets to be a real struggle.
Last Man Standing is a good read as long as you are able to overlook some typical faults.
