Historia
Today's youth-sports experience provokes countless questions for well-intentioned parents. How young should kids start playing sports? Should they specialize—and when? What should a parent do when their kid is not getting the playing time they think their child deserves? How do parents encourage children without overwhelming them? Raising Empowered Athletes has answers for every youth-sports situation with an overarching goal of not only helping parents raise strong athletes but also nurture great human beings who are empowered to succeed on and off the playing field.

A must read for every parent
Revisado: 11-08-23
This book has made such a lasting impression on me as a parent, and I draw learnings from it on an almost daily basis, as my son navigates high school sports. As the parent of a relatively “new athlete”, who started sports later than most kids, navigating this terrain has been challenging at times. Jones’s book is packed with relatable anecdotes and down to earth, practical advice that has kept us grounded and most importantly supportive of our son having fun while learning many of the new skills (a growth mindset, resilience, discipline, and teamwork) that will carry him through life. The narration is excellent - Jones’s compassion for her student athletes rings true. Can’t recommend this book highly enough, a must read for every parent!

Historia
Diana O’Toole is perfectly on track. She will be married by thirty, done having kids by thirty-five, and move out to the New York City suburbs, all while climbing the professional ladder in the cutthroat art auction world. She’s an associate specialist at Sotheby’s now, but her boss has hinted at a promotion if she can close a deal with a high-profile client. She’s not engaged just yet, but she knows her boyfriend, Finn, a surgical resident, is about to propose on their romantic getaway to the Galápagos - days before her thirtieth birthday. Right on time.

Topical and inspirational
Revisado: 05-15-23
I always appreciate how topical Jodi Picoult’s books are, touching on current issues and challenging us to be better versions of ourselves through her works. It was incredible to go back in time and read about the pandemic through fresh eyes, to take in the gravity of what was happening. I finished this feeling more educated, more empathetic, and inspired.

Historia
This transcendent story follows four college friends who move to New York City, buoyed by ambition: Willem, an aspiring actor; JB, an artist; Malcolm, an architect; and, at the center, Jude, a withdrawn, brilliant attorney haunted by an unspeakable past. Through decades of shared and separate lives, Jude’s suffering - and its impact on those who love him - raises questions about the limits of human endurance, the possibility for redemption, and the meaning of friendship.

I can't find the words, I LOVED this story
Revisado: 11-07-16
So beautifully written, I didn't want it to end, (which is amazing given its length!) It's rare to find a book so moving, the story and its characters will stay with me for a very long time. The warnings in some of the other reviews are fair, but if you can handle difficult content, you will be well-rewarded!
