Historia
Africa has long been considered the cradle of life - where life and humans evolved - but somewhere west of Munich, Germany, paleoclimatologist and paleontologist Madelaine Böhme and her team make a discovery that is beyond anything they ever imagined: the 12-million-year-old bones of an ancient ape - Danuvius guggenmos - which makes headlines around the world and defies prevailing theories of human history and where human life began.

Amazing pre-history lesson
Revisado: 05-30-24
I’ve read several books on early humans and I thought I had heard it all, but there was some new information and theories in this book that I had never heard before. No spoilers but some of it was mind blowing. I can’t wait to read about future discoveries on early humans.

Johannes Krause is the director of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology and a brilliant pioneer in the field of archaeogenetics - archaeology augmented by DNA sequencing technology - which has allowed scientists to reconstruct human history reaching back hundreds of thousands of years before recorded time. In this surprising account, Krause and journalist Thomas Trappe rewrite a fascinating chapter of this history, the peopling of Europe, that takes us from the Neanderthals and Denisovans to the present.

Genetic Human History
Revisado: 03-15-24
Genetic scientists are doing some amazing things. It’s crazy that early humans inadvertently left us genetic secrets by burying the dead and preserving dna. We are in uncharted territory when it comes to learning about human history. I need more books like this.

Behind the scenes at Marvel
Revisado: 11-19-23
I’ve read several books about the Marvel company, from its heyday as a comic book company to today’s conglomerate, but I hadn’t heard the story about how Marvel Studios became the most successful studio in Hollywood history. It’s interesting hearing about all their success and how they built the studio from the ground up. A must read.

I love the 80s
Revisado: 09-13-23
It was to take a look down memory lane with these amazing comics. I wasn’t alive to watch their rise to fame, so it’s interesting to see how these comics became famous. By time I understood who they were, it was the 90s and they were household names, so I find their humble beginnings to be fascinating.

Historia
In Dinosaurs Rediscovered, leading paleontologist Michael J. Benton gathers together all the latest paleontological evidence, tracing the transformation of dinosaur study from its roots in antiquated natural history to an indisputably scientific field. Among other things, the book explores how dinosaur remains are found and excavated, and especially how paleontologists read the details of dinosaurs' lives from their fossils - their colors, their growth, and even whether we will ever be able to bring them back to life.

Historia
Seth Andrews wasn't an idiot during his 30 years as an evangelical Christian. He wasn't unintelligent, nor did his IQ shift when he ultimately left religion entirely. He considered himself thoughtful, moral, reasonable, and at least as smart as the average person. In other words, he wasn't an idiot. Yet strangely, he often sounded like one.

Blood in the Garden is a portrait filled with eye-opening details that have never been shared before, revealing the full story of the franchise in the midst of the NBA’s golden era. And rest assured, no punches will be pulled. Which is just how those rough-and-tumble Knicks would like it.

We humans are the inheritors of a dynasty that has reigned over the planet for nearly 66 million years, through fiery cataclysm and ice ages: the mammals. Our lineage includes saber-toothed tigers, woolly mammoths, armadillos the size of a car, cave bears three times the weight of a grizzly, clever scurriers that outlasted Tyrannosaurus rex, and even other types of humans, like Neanderthals.
