Historia
The Bodies Left Behind is an epic cat-and-mouse chase, told nearly in real-time, and is filled with Deaver's patented twists and turns, where nothing is what it seems, and death lingers just around the next curve on a deserted path deep in the midnight forest.

Narration problem
Revisado: 03-15-21
Either retrain or replace the narrator. Many Audible fans use the books as sleep aids. Set the timer and let it lull you to sleep. But, day or night, this narrator forced me to keep changing volume while listening. Mr Graham makes the inexcusable mistake of using volume differences in characters' voices to identify different people. The result is that, if you hope to hear the "whispery" character, you have to endure having the bold characters blast your ears with their loud voices. You are never completely comfortable. Either straining to hear one voice or wincing at the loud ones. It's an easy fix. I can't help but avoid Jeffrey Deaver books until I have reason to believe I won't face this aggravation. ... and Jeffrey Deaver is a favorite of mine,

Narration Advice
Revisado: 06-09-18
I hope, not to insult the narrator, but to give him some guidance. I loved this book and wish to enjoy all Greg Iles' books. However, the narrator constantly changes volume so that one minute I'm straining to hear a character and the next I'm assault with a bellowing loud voice. Creating distinction between characters or genders should not be done by changing volume. Also, narrator uses a style for some characters that enunciates only portions of the words... perhaps for drama or to make a voice seem more feminine. Again, it forces the listener to concentrate in order to follow the story. I am one of many Audible followers who use the books on a timer to help drift off to sleep. This has been a powerful tool for me to battle my insomnia. It simply won't work if I'm wide awake trying to focus and concentrate in order to understand one character and then be blasted by the next character. I'm asking, respectfully, that the narrator give thought to adjusting his style to make the books pleasant and enjoyable for the reader. I can't buy books narrated in the style I experienced in Turning Angel.

Story marred by poor narration
Revisado: 06-06-16
Would you try another book from John Benedict and/or James Babbin?
Only if it has a different narrator
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
It was an intriguing, imaginative plot
Would you be willing to try another one of James Babbin’s performances?
Absolutely not. Poor narration is frustrating and irritating. Not something I would want to repeat
Any additional comments?
The narrator constantly allows his voice to fade to low volume. When I had missed a sentence or two, and increased the volume, it would be just in time for him to begin a different character with a booming voice that was uncomfortable to the ear. He has to find another way to show inflection and character type than such great swings in volume.

More irritating than entertaining.
Revisado: 07-12-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The description should have been "religious mystery". The constant theme is religion. There are preaching, quoting of biblical passages, and Christian guilt throughout. I'm a Christian, and there was great wisdom is some of the lessons in this book. However, when choosing a book for entertainment, I'm not looking for a sermon. The strong religious theme simply needed to be mentioned in the description, just as a Western or Spy Novel theme would have.
Has Private Justice turned you off from other books in this genre?
I will look out for and avoid any books by Terri Blackstock since I haven't found a "genre" that indicates the religious theme I found in her mystery
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Aggravation and disappointment. I had expected to be entertained on a 7 hour drive, and instead was bored and aggravated.
