intonation unbearable
Revisado: 02-06-23
the content of this book was pretty interesting given all the varied circumstances that signs were documented, but the author's intonation was almost unbearable to listen to. the way her voice would fall and trail off was really disconcerting, in my opinion.

Historia
Just when Glennon Doyle Melton was beginning to feel she had it all figured out - three happy children, a doting spouse, and a writing career so successful that her first book catapulted to the top of the New York Times best seller list - her husband revealed his infidelity and she was forced to realize that nothing was as it seemed. A recovering alcoholic and bulimic, Glennon found that rock bottom was a familiar place. In the midst of crisis, she knew to hold on to what she discovered in recovery: that her deepest pain has always held within it an invitation to a richer life.

astoundingly introspective
Revisado: 10-08-22
I found Glennon to be brave, thoughtful, sensitive and courageous. She was able to articulate how many women feel but are unable to express.

beautifully written

initially took a bit to get into it, but then as relationships and conquest became apparent, it was really good & I didn't want to put it down. the narrator was amazing!

superficial
Revisado: 06-03-22
I found this book to be superficial and lacking and substance. well many of the stories would be really entertaining. there weren't a lot of foundational aspects and details to make it such.

Great book with many examples of what Mothers Who Can't Love act like in real life and how to address & recover from the pain of having lived through it.

not focused covert narcissist
Revisado: 05-03-22
I got this book specifically to learn about covert narcissism and the title is very misleading. She's speaking to narcissism in general.

excellent content, robotic narrator
Revisado: 05-02-22
For the first several hours of the audio, I almost put it down & didn't return. I found the narrator's voice & inflictions difficult to listen to. I found it robotic and lacking authenticity. I also thought that accents were often placed incorrectly throughout a given idea and passage. The content on the other hand is fascinating and remarkable. grateful there are people like Dr. Perry critically thinking and acting to address such atrocities in impactful ways.
