Historia
A witty ghost story meets a cold-case mystery—seasoned with romance, banter, and dad jokes. Richard Eugene Craft lives alone in a house built by his great grand uncle in the mid-1800s. The house, in Arlington Virginia, has a rich history and a seemingly haunted past, having been a field hospital during the Civil War. Many people died in this house, including Richard’s wife and son. As unexplainable happenings occur, Richard researches them and acquires interested parties along the way from a dog, to a potential love interest, to Civil War historians and anthropologists who will assist ...

Great listen
Revisado: 04-10-25
I like the underlying romance (I’m not a romantic usually) it fits in nice with the plot. It wasn’t read well with the VV, hence 4 stars) but the parts that were bloopers (like reading 911 as nine hundred eleven) were funny not irritating — book was a good listen!

Historia
As they do each June, the Foxes have driven the winding roads of Appalachia to drop off their children for a two-week stay at their grandmother’s. Here, twelve-year-old Thea can run free and breathe in the smell of pine. But as her parents head back to suburban Virginia, they have no idea they’re about to cross paths with a ticking time bomb. Back in Kentucky, Thea and her grandmother Lucy both awaken from the same nightmare. And though the two have never discussed the special kind of sight they share, they know as soon as their tearful eyes meet that something terrible has happened.

Good but not her usual Amazing!
Revisado: 05-30-24
It’s a good read, BUT…. This review will pain me to write as I absolutely LOVE Nora Robert’s novels. This one not so much. I live in Kentucky and while her historical prospective and the strong survival personalities are very accurate I felt the characters needed a little more depth and polishing. I actually listened to the book (as I do often) and I felt the language of the characters in the novel needed revisited; A good example is that The child’s language is that of a two yr old and not a 4 yr old. Some phrases just weren’t what Appalachians would say. The novel itself, while it had good potential and plot, I felt it was rushed and poorly edited. It just didn’t feel like her usual refined literary attributes of the past. It tried to place an entire lifetime into a book which maybe could have been developed into a series, instead of a single. At points It was almost like an intermediate novelist instead of our talented and seasoned artist had written it. I’m sorry, but this book just isn’t her normal. However, it was a good read it just didn’t live up to my expectation’s of my favorite Author.
