Historia
EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) therapy has been successfully used for the past 30 years for those who have suffered PTSD in the military. Recently, it has been recognized as a useful therapy for other forms of trauma. For the author of this book, it was a lifesaving means of reprocessing painful experiences from her upbringing that continued to affect her life.

A touching personal account
Revisado: 05-05-21
Marie tells her story of what EMDR therapy was like from a patient's perspective. She shows how it created a profound reinterpretation of her sense of her entire life, her relationships and her spiritual journey. I like how Marie gives concrete examples by describing incidents and the unique characteristics and backstories of people in her life in straightforward language. Very few books on EMDR are from this perspective or in this depth of meaning. She also connects it with her personal Christian beliefs in a moving and fascinating way. I was also intrigued by Marie's unusual take on pornography which I have rarely heard articulated.

Historia
When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself. Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.

Derivative but fun
Revisado: 03-31-05
This book is nicely read. The reader did a great job with the character voices. The story is fun, but it completely rips off Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. If you've read widely in the sci-fi fantasy genre it may drive you a bit crazy how unoriginal the story is. There was nothing new or technically brilliant about it, but I sheepishly enjoyed it anyway.

Historia
Hector Munro, writing under the pseudonym of Saki, is justly renowned for his urbane and witty short stories. His eccentric characters, humorous dialogue and engaging domestic situations all reveal a penetrating and sometimes disturbing insight into human nature. As a quixotic tour guide, Saki leads the reader from garden party to pig sty to political convention with the ease of one who is intimately familiar with the cares and foibles of the human condition, showing us this vista of life through the well tempered lens of his gentle, British irony. In this definitive collection of stories we can browse and sightsee at our leisure, cross borders of fresh insight, admire and enjoy each whimsical tale as we journey through the imaginative landscape of a truly artful writer.

Terrible
Revisado: 04-26-04
I bought this audiobook because the review said it was "witty and urbane." There is humour that is so bad it becomes funny again, but this book's humour is so awful I was shocked. I don't mean "boo, bad pun" or dirty humour, I mean the humour was just not funny. It wasn't even interesting. I kept listening hoping it would improve. It didn't. Only buy this book as a horrifying example of bad literature.
