Historia
It is 1950. London is still reeling from World War II, and Margery Benson, a schoolteacher and spinster, is trying to get through life, surviving on scraps. One day, she reaches her breaking point, abandoning her job and small existence to set out on an expedition to the other side of the world in search of her childhood obsession: an insect that may or may not exist - the golden beetle of New Caledonia. When she advertises for an assistant to accompany her, the woman she ends up with is the last person she had in mind.

Story we can all relate to
Revisado: 11-12-23
Miss Benson’s Beetle is a story of heart break, resilience, triumph and the finding of oneself through meeting someone who is a polar opposite. I can’t recommend this story enough! I laughed, I cried, I absolutely wanted to cheer at the way the author brought the story to a conclusion. Would that we woman could all find ourselves as Miss Benson did with as much adventure, friendship, and love even if we had to go through all of the trauma that came with it!

Good story but…
Revisado: 04-08-23
This was a very good story and I enjoyed it right up until the very end. There were so many plot twists and none of them were wrapped up!

Historia
Before he was the Gray Man, Court Gentry was Sierra Six, the junior member of a CIA action team. In their first mission, they took out a terrorist leader, at a terrible price. Years have passed. The Gray Man is on a simple mission when he sees a ghost: the long-dead terrorist, but he's remarkably energetic for a dead man. A decade of time hasn't changed the Gray Man. He isn't one to leave a job unfinished or a blood debt unpaid.

Not his best!
Revisado: 01-22-23
I fell in love with the Grey Man series years ago but due to many other interests and other books to listen to I am just now filling in some of the gaps. I found this one rather hard to engage in due to the skipping back and forth between years. Should have been two separate stories!

Charming
Revisado: 03-31-20
This is a charming story with some moral lessons included. I loved the Victorian setting and think this would be a wonderful read for families of young children during our current time of social distancing. I’m not sure if teens would find it entertaining or in their vernacular stupid but I as an older woman thoroughly enjoyed it!

Can't wait for the next book!
Revisado: 04-26-11
As I started reading this I thought that it was going to be another "Twilight wanna be" but about half way through I was proved oh so wrong. Deborah Harkness knows her history and her characters reflect her love of it. I will be eagerly waiting for the second installment!

To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life - a quaint house on an island off Seattle’s coast, a thriving dog-training school and a challenging volunteer job performing Canine Search and Rescue. But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare: an encounter with the Red Scarf Killer, who shot and killed Fiona’s cop fiancé and his K-9 partner.

Don't waste the credit!
Revisado: 10-31-10
I have been reading Nora Roberts for many years and I am starting to feel like I am hearing the same story with different settings and names. This book was extremely predictable, the narrator was terrible, and with the unnecessary foul language I wish I could get a refund!
