Captivating journey through trauma, power and consent
Revisado: 07-20-23
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book and the narration. From the beginning the author skillfully transports readers into the complex world of consent. Intertwining crucial themes such as patriarchy, religion, trauma , power and trust. The book is thought provoking and invites you to reflect on your own experiences and psychological impact of prolonged traumatic experiences. The poignant observations about the misuse of power and lack of consent make it an important book for anyone seeking a memoir that captures the essence of the darker side of the human experience.

Historia
When Amy B. Scher was struck with undiagnosed late-stage, chronic Lyme disease, the best physicians in America labeled her condition incurable and potentially terminal. Deteriorating rapidly, she went on a search to save her own life - from the top experts in Los Angeles and the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis to a state-of-the-art hospital in Chicago. After exhausting all of her options in the US, she discovered a possible cure - but it was highly experimental, available only in India, and had as much of a probability of killing her as it did of curing her.

Authentic, Inspiring and funny!
Revisado: 11-16-20
Incredible story, Amy shares openly and honestly her journey and search for health that leads her down many rabbit holes but ultimately takes her on a journey that leads her back to herself, which is where she finds the answers to all of her questions! It’s inspiring, heart warming and very funny in parts. Highly recommend to anyone stuck in a pattern of looking outside of themselves for life’s answers and are ready to know there could be another way! Also a great book for anyone who loves India!

"True belonging doesn't require us to change who we are. It requires us to be who we are." Social scientist Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW, has sparked a global conversation about the experiences that bring meaning to our lives - experiences of courage, vulnerability, love, belonging, shame, and empathy. In Braving the Wilderness, Brown redefines what it means to truly belong in an age of increased polarization.

A book of hope
Revisado: 01-14-18
This is a very powerful book, full of practical guidance but also heart warming and inspiring. As someone who has also navigated a life fueled by one big question, will I ever belong? Brené has brought me peace, to know that belonging is truly held in your heart and how you find this sense of belonging and the peace that comes from belonging is by having the strength and courage to know and be yourself no matter what. Highly recommend. It will encourage you to question why/what you are prepared to negotiate and when you truly need to stand your ground but always holding in your heart the deep sense that at the very core of us all is the need for connection
