Historia
"The Book Case" is a story that features Nelson DeMille's most famous (and successful) character, Detective John Corey, who has appeared in six DeMille novels: Plum Island, The Lion's Game, Night Fall, Wild Fire, and The Lion. In this story, we see John Corey in his early years as an NYPD Detective, before he became involved with the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force.

Excellent Short Story
Revisado: 03-14-22
I don't know why DeMille doesn't write more detective stories from John Corey's early police career. The concept works. Would love to read/hear more like this one.

Historia
Ananke thought her week couldn't get worse, but as she hunts for the man who screwed up her previous job, things really go sideways. Turns out, she's not the only one having problems. Rosario can acquire anything for anyone, but can she obtain freedom for herself when her latest assignment goes awry? Dylan's sure his new gig will be a walk in the park - or rather, a drive, given that he's a courier. Unfortunately, the road is a bit bumpier than he expected.

Any additional comments?
The plot and character development was unimpressive. It left like a story written by a teen for a class assignment. I don't mean to be cruel but if you're used to the quality of work like that produced by Daniel Silva or Vince Flynn, you'll be disappointed with this work.

Historia
Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He’s just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he’s arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Reacher knows is that he didn’t kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn’t stand a chance of convincing anyone. Not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

Excellent plot that was nearly impossible to figure even though the reader (listener) has the facts... Well done... Dick Hill isn't a bad reader but he doesn't have the talent of someone like George Guidall to make micro-changes in his voice inflection to create the mental images of different characters... Still the book overall is excellent and I highly recommend it...

Historia
Jack Walker and Michael Talbot come from two worlds; the same, yet different. They both find themselves transported into an alien one, where things aren’t as they seem. While it appears similar to the ones they come from, there are some terrifying differences. Is it a dream? Or has reality been somehow warped? Jack comes from a world filled with nocturnal creatures that were once human, but now seek to destroy the last vestiges of humanity.

Revisado: 11-26-15
What made the experience of listening to A Shrouded World - Whistlers the most enjoyable?
No deep moral issues resolved here - Just a really fun adventure story set in a dangerous world... What more could one want?
Any additional comments?
Was confused at first before I figured out that the story is being told from the viewpoint of two different people - Actually a pretty good approach since it is a collaboration of two authors... You can definitely see the two personalities in the writing style.

Too painful to listen to
Revisado: 10-20-15
Any additional comments?
Firstly, if the narrator intends to continue trying to mimic regional accents, he needs a professional coach - There is a Senator who would make Boss Hogg wince, a bazzillionaire David Niven wanna-be, and his Irish sidekick whom I expected at any moment to say "This brandy is magically delicious"...
Secondly, the characters and dialogue were like something out of a low grade made-for-TV movie... A hit man named "Big Lenny" - Seriously? Every character in the plot, including the Senator, is either current or former elite combat types - Even if the author didn't tell you this in each character's bio, you could tell it by their braggadocious dialogue and their eager willingness to mix it up with random toughs who get in their way - Which we all know is the way all special ops guys act.... Right?
The plot (what I heard if it) was pretty predictable but I didn't slight the author for that if he could fill it in with good characters and dialogue - he didn't... After about an hour, my wife threatened to leave the room if I didn't shut it off - I told her that "I" would leave the room if I didn't shut it off... So I did...
For all those who liked the book, I wish you joy... For those who have NOT yet bought this book and you're expecting something of the same caliber as Vince Flynn or Daniel Silva, save your credits... I rarely return books I get from Audible and even more rarely write a negative review, but this one made the list...

Firstly Confusing but...

... in short order it hooked me... Its not so much an Apocalyptic story as an adventure story told by a rascally con artist... The the characters are hilarious, the central character's style of speaking is fascinating, and the reader's execution of the story was perfectly matched to the flavor and mood of the book... My only criticism was the random and unnecessary forays into off-the-wall philosophical theories about "life, the universe, and everything" - Aside from that, I highly recommend the book.

Hell Hole is the fourth book in the mystery series featuring hardened former military PD and current Sea Haven, New Jersey, police officer John Ceepak and his partner, wise-cracking Danny Boyle.
In Hell Hole, Ceepak is confronted with his most personal case yet when he must investigate the alleged suicide of a military corporal who recently returned from Iraq. It turns out that this "locked stall" rest-stop suicide is anything but an open-and-shut case.

A Political Diatribe
Revisado: 10-21-14
What was most disappointing about Chris Grabenstein’s story?
The author has used the story as a format to promote a personal political agenda based on a fantasy scenario driven by partisan politics. In fact he was so driven by the political agenda that his ultimate solution to the mystery was a last minute, unrealistic contrivance that was a stretch for anyone to figure out, regardless of their investigative skills. In short, it was not even a good detective mystery.
I was greatly disappointed in the direction he took this story because I have enjoyed his previous books. As I can no longer trust this author to keep his stories non-political, I won't be purchasing any more of his work.

Outstanding..!
Revisado: 03-28-13
If you could sum up Hunting Evil in three words, what would they be?
Comprehensive...Objective...Courageous...
What about Jonathan Cowley’s performance did you like?
Clear and Concise.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Wanted to but due to its scope, I don't see how someone could.
Any additional comments?
This is not an opinion piece... It is a precise and totally comprehensive history of the subject, covering aspects that I never imagined - The heroes, the villains, the profiteers and glory searchers, and revelations I was not expecting. This book exposed just how little I knew on the subject. I highly recommend it to anyone who is remotely interested in this aspect of 20th century history.
