No doubt about it - my least favorite Dan Brown book - this book frustrated me on multiple levels and it's not recommended

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Historia
In his four decades of urban ministry, Robert D. Lupton has experienced firsthand how our good intentions can have unintended, dire consequences. We fly off on mission trips to poverty-stricken villages, hearts full of pity and suitcases bulging with giveaways - trips that one Nicaraguan leader describes as effective only in "turning my people into beggars." In Toxic Charity, Lupton urges individuals, churches, and organizations to step away from these spontaneous, often destructive acts of compassion and toward thoughtful paths to community development.

Changed Everything
Revisado: 11-17-15
This book has changed the way I view my ministry in Peru where I have traveled four consecutive years to serve - as a "vacationary." I can't wait for others on my mission team to join me in reading Toxic Charity so we can all engage in productive discussions about where to go from here in *developing* and truly partnering with our partner church in that area. This book is excellent and thought-provoking. Highly recommend.

Historia
An orphan's life is harsh---and often short---in the island city of Camorr, built on the ruins of a mysterious alien race. But born with a quick wit and a gift for thieving, Locke Lamora has dodged both death and slavery, only to fall into the hands of an eyeless priest known as Chains---a man who is neither blind nor a priest. A con artist of extraordinary talent, Chains passes his skills on to his carefully selected "family" of orphans---a group known as the Gentlemen Bastards.

Target audience - 15 yr olds who like the F-bomb
Revisado: 02-02-15
The story is okay....not as good as most of the reviews indicate.....but it's unnecessarily long. Also - the author might have Tourette's syndrome, because the cursing simply doesn't fit....he just drops F-bombs all over the place with no real purpose. Overall, this book is just average.

Beware - this is Young Adult material
Revisado: 01-06-14
Based on the reviews, I was expecting something much more impressive. However I soon realized this book is aimed at the young adult crowd....which is fine, unless you're looking for something a bit more 'put together'. The story was entertaining, but I just couldn't get past the fact that I was listening to something better suited for my 12 yr old....

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Men - read this review!
Revisado: 06-30-11
Men - you need to know, this book shouldn't be in the Sci Fi/Fantasy section...it should be in the romance section. Aside from a momentary 'time travel' plot device, this book is a straight up chick flick harlequin romance. Don't get me wrong, it's well written, and not terrible, but seriously, you will be getting in touch with your feminine side if you listen to this one.....and a guy can only take a certain amount of discussion about the main character's "strong manhood" or "his solid urgency" before you wonder what the heck you're listening too....
If you're looking for romantic love stories that have lots of sex from the chicks point of view....get this book. If you're looking for something that would be more interesting to the average guy....move on.
Don't say I didn't warn you!

Historia
It is not long before the survivors, outlaws, renegades, and carrion eaters start to gather, picking over the bones of the dead and fighting for the spoils of the soon-to-be dead. Now in the Seven Kingdoms, as the human crows assemble over a banquet of ashes, daring new plots and dangerous new alliances are formed, while surprising faces, some familiar, others only just appearing, are seen emerging from an ominous twilight of past struggles and chaos to take up the challenges ahead.

I've never been so disappointed....
Revisado: 05-24-11
I have no idea why they changed narrators, but this doesn't even feel like the same story. It's easy to blame the narrator here (because he is sooooo bad compared to Roy Dotrice), but I'm not sure it's all his fault....this book just isn't as crisp or as good as the others....it feels like George just dialed it in on this one....
I'll still get the next one when it comes out, but pleasssseeeee....don't use John Lee again.

3 Stars is a bit generous, but.....
Revisado: 09-17-04
...there are some entertaining aspects to this series. The writing in these books is almost cartoonish in it's quality. I really enjoy this genre, but the characters in this series are superficial, the situations they miraculously escape from are totally unbelieveable, and the author contradicts himself dozens of times. This is the only Audible series where I listen and constantly ask myself what I was thinking when I purchased it.
Listening to this series is like watching a bad B movie at 2:00 AM. You know you need to cut your losses, but you just want to see how the story ends.
Good luck.
