Historia
In the wake of the Solar Union’s stunning victory over the Tokomak - the masters of the galactic community - humanity has been invited to send a diplomatic mission to the Kingdom of Harmonious Order, one of the oldest and most significant races in known space. It is an opportunity that cannot be missed, a chance to forge ties with a powerful ally. And so a lone starship is dispatched to the galactic core to open discussions. But when that starship runs into a deadly trap, she and her crew must battle their way home before they are merely the first casualties in a renewed war.

Another great story
Revisado: 05-02-25
There’s something about Nuttall’s storytelling that makes me feel like I’m part of it, - part of the action, and right there alongside the characters. His writing holds my attention completely, a balance between compelling plot and just enough thrill to keep it exciting without being overwhelming. I also really appreciate the way he weaves gender and sexual diversity into his stories so naturally - it never feels forced, just authentic and human. As usual, the narrator was excellent and brought the story to life with great energy and nuance

The galaxy is doomed. Monkeys may be clever and too stubborn to give up, but Skippy The Idiot Who Got Played knows the harsh truth: this is a fight he can’t win. The odds are not only stacked against him, he was designed not to win this fight. Maybe he can salvage some faint memory of the civilizations that inhabit the galaxy, but those beings are doomed. Doomed. Including the Merry Band of Pirates.

I enjoy this series... the story line and the performance by Bray makes me feel a part of the adventures of the merry band of pirates. I also like the 'asides' and the humour injected - just enough! great stuff!

The problem with lying about having a super weapon is that the bad guys might believe they have nothing to lose by doing something stupid that both sides will regret. Or, they might just call your bluff. Either way, the Merry Band of Pirates need a plan to deal with the Fallout.

the author takes me into the lives of Joe, Skippy and all others. I like the way Alanson includes sometimes irrelevant and irreverent sidelines... really makes me feel included. and the narrator? just brilliantly done. great story teller with enough change in tone and emphasis to always maintain interest!

contrary to other reviews, I thought this was a great story - I love the way Bray intertwines personal aspects of the characters into the storyline - made me feel part of it and I didn't want it to end! Go Skippy btw :-)

Just another Great book by Alanson
Revisado: 05-02-20
I love the way Alanson intermingles ongoing action with humour and background description of characters and events. I'm an 'action' type of person (well, in my books anyway!) and don't like too much descriptive text... Alanson seems to have closely perfected this and I love the humour of Joe and Skippy... not even sure I would return to this series without them! Great story and the narrating of Bray is just brilliant as always. Don't let us hanging too long for Book 10 Amazon... not a pretty place to be hanging from at end of 9!

It's ok...
Revisado: 05-02-20
I was so close to returning this one... on many occasions. But stuck to it, and realised it was... ok! I really just wanted to see how it ended. But for the most part the story seemed to be a cultural treatise - I like action in this type of genre and have to admit I got lost in the complexity of the background information of the characters and the 'aliens'' culture... I just wanted to hear more about Jonathan's adventures... but I won't... no more of this series for me

Revisado: 08-17-19
I absolutely loved this series...up to this point. I tried, I really tried to listen to this but it just grated on me... the narration was completely different from the previous episodes complete with weird sound effects, unusual background music...it was like I was listening to a contemporary computer gaming program. I just couldn't do it... and had to return it!
