Historia
During the hot sweltering August of 1943, in a world filled with messages of war, a young man of twenty-one years stepped off a cattle train filled to the brim with scared and eager young men. Most of them had never been this far south or met the dreaded sand flea that calls this place home. Henry Powers went on to serve in the Fourth Marine Division during World War II. He participated in the island-hopping campaigns of the Pacific Ocean and fought on Iwo Jima, Saipan, Tarawa, and Roi Namur. Powers was an avid note-taker and artist and filled multiple journals with doodles and words. It is...

Historia
In 1991, acting on a tip from a local fisherman, two scuba divers discovered a sunken German U-boat, complete with its crew of 60 men, not too far off the New Jersey coast. The divers, realizing the momentousness of their discovery, began probing the mystery. Over the next six years, they became expert and well-traveled researchers, taught themselves German, hunted for clues in Germany, and constructed theories corrective of the history books, all in an effort to identify this sunken U-boat and its crew.

Gripping from start to finish!
Revisado: 09-02-24
This book is the full trip: it had me gasping in awe of the divers' finds, tearing up with their hardships, and celebrating their successes. I knew nothing of wreck diving, but a fair bit about u-boats. I'm glad I read this one, and will absolutely be recommending it!
PS- Resist the temptation to research the wreck or the divers before finishing the book!

Historia
In 1942, America's deadliest fighter pilot, or "ace of aces" - the legendary Eddie Rickenbacker - offered a bottle of bourbon to the first US fighter pilot to break his record of 26 enemy planes shot down. Seizing on the challenge to motivate his men, General George Kenney promoted what they would come to call the "race of aces" as a way of boosting the spirits of his war-weary command.

Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in WWII fighters, and the men that flew them.
