Historia
When a peculiar letter arrives inviting Armand Gamache to an abandoned farmhouse, the former head of the Sûreté du Québec discovers that a complete stranger has named him one of the executors of her will. Still on suspension, and frankly curious, Gamache accepts and soon learns that the other two executors are Myrna Landers, the bookseller from Three Pines, and a young builder. None of them had ever met the elderly woman. The will is so odd and includes bequests that are so wildly unlikely that Gamache and the others suspect the woman must have been delusional.

An excellent Louise Penny with a really superb narrator
Revisado: 05-28-20
Louise Penny and Robert Bathurst are the dream team. The story is convoluted, but stick with it, all will be revealed, and we see new sides of some of the loved characters. A tour de force.

Five stars are not enough
Revisado: 11-21-19
I’ve listened to many many of the Great Courses. This one excels on every level. It’s a real college course, not dumbed down, as I’ve noticed many recent courses have been. The professor is knowledgeable and engaging, never condescending or patronizing. A few aspects may be a bit dated but who cares? Those portions tend to be aspirational about human nature, and with the current anti-science administration they are not panning out. But they can. God willing they will. Kudos to Prof. Wysession.

Longmire and Guidall. The perfect pair
Revisado: 09-17-19
Sometimes a terrific book finds the perfect narrator, and we get to enjoy it. Walt Longmire is a perfectly developed character — wise, human, and funny. The other characters are the same. I just love this series, particularly in audio.

I always like Harry Bosch. This one isn’t his best, but not his worst and a good listen. And I hope Lucy Soto will be a continuing character. Recommended.

Both the 4star and the 1 star reviews are justified
Revisado: 06-13-19
The best thing about this audiobook is Joanne Froggatt’s narration. The early part of the story is well written, but even the writing deteriorates as the end sinks into melodrama. This is not an author I’ll revisit.

Historia
A high-profile attorney in the middle of a leave of absence following a personal tragedy is drawn back into the legal arena amidst a media firestorm when he agrees to represent a popular rap artist accused of brutally murdering his pop star girlfriend. With its powerful voice, pause-resisting tension, and strong cast of characters, Adam Mitzner’s novels are reminiscent of such best-selling authors as Scott Turow and John Grisham.

A very mixed bag
Revisado: 06-03-19
A Case of Redemption is well written, interesting and engrossing for about the first two thirds. The story still holds your interest, but the courtroom passages are totally bogus and the ending is unconvincing. Kevin Collins’ narration is often over-dramatic but well done on the whole.

So-so book saved by excellent narration

I would listen to other books narrated by Bolton Marsh, but may not go on with this series. Maybe because I hadn’t heard parts 1 and 2. The writing was overdone for my taste.
