Nisha was a great protagonist and her positive change in values reflected in her new friendships were meaningful.

This book had potential in the characters and story line and in the good reader.
However, the way it shows women as victims and helpless to stand alone as human beings is weak and makes everyone else (male, religious, white) appear to be a bully is embarrassing. I grew up in the same time period as the author did in a home with strong male And females. Education and science was valued but not worshipped. My peers and I were able to navigate the challenges and tragedies of childhood and went on to become highly educated professionals. This
book makes that seem impossible.
In the meantime, pointing out that we were oppressed because of some man or religion would be considered weak and not strong by my fellow females. This book had the potential to be entertaining in the storyline of two quirky scientists who overcome their own tragedies to have a unique life and then to withstand the loss of one and continue on with the ultimate family including a dog and neighbor lady and all the colorful characters. Instead it became obviously and weakly agenda driven. The writer should know that the true testament of a strong role model and protagonist is not to have her portrayed as a victim of a society’s culture, rather a product of utilizing her own upbringing and her experience with others to mold her into the best person she can be. Your sweet funny story was watered down with an agenda that would have been better had the victim mentality agenda been absent. I read the whole thing only because I thought there would be a final interesting twist and not a tiresome ultimate agenda of female victimhood.

I don’t usually write reviews but this story had promise and a good narration. The storyline was superficial and flat and the ending was weak. Character somewhat interesting and side characters likewise but not developed. Likely not to read this author again. I am an avid audiobook consumer. So sorry .
