Historia
The Notorious B.I.G. was one of the most charismatic and talented artists of the 1990s. Born Christopher Wallace and raised in Clinton Hill/Bed Stuy, Brooklyn, Biggie lived an almost archetypal rap life. Biggie released his first record, Ready to Die, in 1994, when he was only 22. Less than three years later, he was killed just days before the planned release of his second record Life After Death. Journalist Justin Tinsley’s It Was All a Dream is a fresh, insightful telling of the life beyond the legend.

Revisado: 11-27-22
A beautiful book about one of our lost heros. Biggie is a triumphant & tragic story. You get to know Big warts and all. A fantastic man who was taken from us way too soon. Support books like this about hip hop culture. It is important books like this get published. It is a phenomenal work and I highly recommend

Historia
Before Talib Kweli became a world-renowned hip hop artist, he was a Brooklyn kid who liked to cut class, spit rhymes, and wander the streets of Greenwich Village with a motley crew of artists, rappers, and DJs who found hip hop more inspiring than their textbooks (much to the chagrin of the educator parents who had given their son an Afrocentric name in hope of securing for him a more traditional sense of pride and purpose).

Historia
For Nipsey Hussle, “The Marathon” was more than a mixtape title or the name of a clothing store; it was a way of life, a metaphor for the relentless pursuit of excellence and the willpower required to overcome adversity day after day. Hussle was determined to win the race to success on his own terms, and he wanted to see his whole community in the winner’s circle with him.

Incredible
Revisado: 04-16-21
This book although unauthorized is simply amazing. Rob Kenner takes the reader on a journey through the life of Nipsey. You get to understand more about this remarkable icon. His highs, & lows, his defeats & triumphs. I was blown away my the attention detail & came away super impressed. I wanted the book to be even longer. The narrator also did a fantastic job. This is the type of writing that needs to be supported. Hip hop has made a huge impact on countless lives. We needs more literature like this. Buy this book do not borrow it from the library. Thank you Rob for this. The marathon don’t stop!!!!!

Historia
The first of "The Big Three" was Paul Pierce. As Boston Celtics fans watched the team retire Pierce's jersey in a ceremony on February 11, 2018, they remembered again the incredible performances Pierce put on in the city for fifteen years, helping the Celtics escape the bottom of their conference to become champions and perennial championship contenders. But Pierce's time in the city wasn't always so smooth. In 2000, he was stabbed in a downtown nightclub eleven times in a seemingly random attack.

An Amazing Inside Look into the NBA
Revisado: 02-08-21
I absolutely loved this book. Learning the inside story of the Boston Celtics, the ownership, Danny, the big three, Rondo, & Doc was fascinating. Holley is under rated in his ability to tell amazing stories & get the inside scoop you will not hear anywhere else. This is a must read for Boston Celtics fans, but would also be extremely enjoyable to a fan of the NBA. I can’t recommend this book enough.

Historia
In his early 20s, Curtis Jackson, known as 50 Cent, rose to the heights of fame and power in the cutthroat music business. A decade ago, the multi-platinum selling rap artist decided to pivot. His ability to adapt to change was demonstrated when he became the executive producer and star of Power, a high-octane, gripping crime drama centered around a drug kingpin's family. The series quickly became "appointment" television, leading to Jackson inking a four-year, $150 million contract with the Starz network - the most lucrative deal in premium cable history.

Historia
In Everthing Is F*cked, Mark Manson turns his gaze from the inevitable flaws within each individual self to the endless calamities taking place in the world around us. Drawing from the pool of psychological research on these topics, as well as the timeless wisdom of philosophers such as Plato, Nietzsche, and Tom Waits, he dissects religion and politics and the uncomfortable ways they have come to resemble one another. He looks at our relationships with money, entertainment, and the internet, and how too much of a good thing can psychologically eat us alive.

Historia
The seminal rap group A Tribe Called Quest brought jazz into the genre, resurrecting timeless rhythms to create masterpieces. This narrative follows Tribe from their early days as part of the Afrocentric rap collective known as the Native Tongues, through their first three classic albums, to their eventual breakup and long hiatus. Throughout the narrative, poet and essayist Hanif Abdurraqib connects the music and cultural history to their street-level impact and draws from his own experience to reflect on how its distinctive sound resonated among fans like himself.

The book captures the spirit of a Tribe Called Quest in amazing detail. The author does such a good job with saluting Tribe, while also making profound statements about growing up & maturing. The book is hard to describe but is certainly worth the read. It explores hip hop history while also explaining the state of the world at the time. I highly recommend this book

Historia
From the moment these two players took the court on opposing sides, they engaged in a fierce physical and psychological battle. Their uncommonly competitive relationship came to symbolize the most compelling rivalry in the NBA. These were the basketball epics of the 1980s - Celtics vs Lakers, East vs West, physical vs finesse, Old School vs Showtime, even white vs black. Each pushed the other to greatness - together Bird and Johnson collected eight NBA Championships and six MVP awards.
