Quite an undead tale
Revisado: 02-09-25
This story has a good cast of characters as well as a highly developed setting. The physical and moral aspects of reanimation have been fleshed out very well, as have the details of the invading ‘Pedes. I look forward to more books in this series although I wouldn’t have felt cheated if this had been a solo title.

This is the third book of this series and it wraps up the trilogy with more action than ever before. New factions and connections are unveiled, and the invasion is launched. Waylon gains a brother, and the clones realize that they are. Rory becomes even more adept with the shadows.

The trilogy wraps up with a whole new beginning
Revisado: 01-16-25
Dina, Rhett, Fabien and others journey through rifts (‘seams’) in the fabric of space in a race with the Hand of the Sun for a set of five objects that may lead to a return to normalcy for all of the various ‘Earths’. Once again the creatures and characters are quite colorful and diverse.

Very interesting concept
Revisado: 01-11-25
Throw Warehouse 13 and The Librarian into a blender with a cast of interesting characters and you get The Relic. Mixing adventure, action, myth, legend, and science fiction, this tale keeps you interested.
The narrator does a good job of expressing the voices of the characters and reads very well.
I’m not a fan of the chapter structure since they are all third-person despite the naming convention.

Another Koontz classic
Revisado: 12-12-24
This is an exhilarating adventure with excellent character development and nail-biting action. The scenarios build from a pair of motel rooms to a modern mansion, with a stop in the past along the way.
While I’m generally not in favor of multiple narrators, the interplay of the points of view grows into quite a well-polished and well-rounded storytelling synergy.

Worlds of Danger
Revisado: 12-06-24
Although this title is part of a series, it stands on its own quite well. There are allusions to external events, and characters' backstories, but these hints of elsewheres do not detract from a well-written series of simultaneous adventures that share a common time-limited goal.

Historia
From the halls of power in Washington to the vastness of space, the Guild moves closer to outright war as shifting alliances force everyone—including Van—to pick a side, take up arms, and fight. But there are ghosts out there in the black, and some of them carry secrets that Mark Tudor and Petyr Groshenko refused to reveal. In the expanse of his memory, Perry finds an ancient ship, and an even older war—and neither of those things have truly gone away.

I really wish that Chaney would learn the difference between ‘anxious’ and ‘eager’. Always used wrong.

Historia
Most children go through a dinosaur phase. Learning all the tongue-twisting names, picking favourites based on ferocity, armour, or sheer size. For many kids this love of ‘terrible lizards’ fizzles out at some point between starting and leaving primary school. All those fancy names slowly forgotten, no longer any need for a favourite. For all those child dino fanatics who didn’t grow up to become paleontologists, dinosaurs seem like something out of mythology. They are dragons, pictures in books, abstract, other, extinct.

OK until
Revisado: 09-27-24
Generally, the science is as current as can be considering that none of it can be empirically tested. Unfortunately, it all gets tossed out the window by devolving into a paean to the religion of “climate change’, a euphemism created to cover up the failure of every doomsday-in-ten-years ‘scientific’ prediction. The many underhanded and suppressive efforts to prevent any discussion of the claims and the appalling lack of proof (I’m pretty sure The Maldives are still as much above water as ever, and it’s high-dollar real estate is very popular with those who echo and promote the end of the world propaganda).
This would be an entertaining and informative book if only it was one chapter shorter.

Historia
Disturbing the established order will mean kicking over a fair number of rocks, although Mark, Valint, and the others might be surprised by what scurries forth underneath—and what uniform it's wearing when it steps into the light. Mark Tudor will make the title Peacemaker mean something once again, but to do that, he'll have to face the worst the galaxy has to offer. Death waits in the quiet moments. And sometimes, it is a soldier's loved ones that pay the greatest price.

It gets real
Revisado: 06-20-24
This third episode of a well-appreciated retrospective prequel continues to introduce and explain major elements of the Backyard Starship series. Events come to a boil as the Stillness target friends and family of the small band of renegades.
Complaints are few, chief among them is the pedantic observation that author Chaney, despite his prodigious yet still highly entertaining output, has yet to meet a participle that he can’t find a way to dangle.

Good, cliched, too liberal story
Revisado: 04-20-24
It’s an entertaining story if rather cliched. Lots of liberal talking points, especially Whites are bad. Takes major liberties with scientific realities.
Reader has a good range of voices. Punch-ins are obvious and many common words are mispronounced.
