When he leans toward me, Emmanuel’s dark curls fall forward, shadowing the rest of the world, and cocooning us in an intimate space. His cognac eyes glint with specks of amethyst. His hands at my waist slip under my shirt, our skin meeting in a spark of heat that also holds the warmth of a comforting fire. Desire and true love are one hell of a combination.

The Mission: Reverse the Curse!
Darling Price, along with her friends, Megan, Dimitri, and Esa Tor, set out to learn what it would take to not only stop the Zombie Apocalypse, but also to prevent it from happening to the millions of other worlds, in other dimensions!
Battling against her Nemesis/sister Orphelia, her familiars, Sookie aka 7th, and a myriad other mythical creatures, as well as Mother Nature herself, Darling learns that all is truly not as it seems!
That she learns the truth concerning Emmanuel, and the Dream Lover, is another complication.
Like the battles of legend, Darling learns that the “modern day “ Deities are not above playing their games!
Maria Hunter Welles’s renditions of the characters were markedly improved.
This audible reads like a fantasy but I found myself falling into the role of Darling as the epic saga continued.

The second book of this series unravels much more of the mystery that is the main character, Darling!
So much more emotion, and sexual situations that leave you wanting to hear every rasping breath!
As more creatures of myth are introduced, more is learned about the paranormal worlds.
The final pages leave you wanting to know, “what happens next?”

The universe sings a song, and I can hear it when we kiss. Dimitri's eyes are the ice blue of a glacier - the hottest edge of a flame. His gaze both chills and heats me. His cheekbones are sculpted from marble, lips red as a rose petal and turned up into a predatory smile. He walks like a dancer - movements liquid, precise, controlled, and strong. He’s been following me...sent to protect me.

A really good story and narration

Emily Reed incorporated all the creatures of the paranormal realm in this first story of an apocalyptic universe where Vampires, Warlocks, Zombies, Demons, and Witches collide in a small city in the south.
The story itself, though a bit convoluted in the beginning, show the makings of becoming interesting.
The main character, Darling, is that very human mixture of traumatized, yet unbeaten!
That she survived all the obstacles put before her, proved to be a testament to the creature she truly was! Her confusion about herself, and her past was what keeps this character strong, though because of her nature, she was quite a sexual being!
The sex scenes are quite steamy!
The men in her life, were too controlling, but could not contain her. I liked that!
The narrator, though not bad, made it a little difficult for me, a neophyte to audible books, to truly enjoy the story.
The excerpt of the second book shows some promise.
