This book definitely proves a point...."Once a legionnaire, always a legionnaire!"
Though this book starts a bit different than what is the norm this saga. it is a refreshing beginning and I will not go into what makes this refreshing as I do not wish to spoil anything for any future readers! needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this book so much, I not only listened to this audiobook while in my vehicle but also while relaxing at home. The ONLY CON I can honestly can give regarding this book is plain and simple The book ended! So that should tell you all you need to know about this book! I mean if the only negative thing a person can say about this book is that the book simply ended, and I will have to wait for the next book to come out! Well enough said. I do own the entire saga or as some would say the entire collection of the entire various series which makes up everything from the Savage Wars and the things in which are discussed when they talk about the past. I highly recommend obtaining the entire collection of these books! You will not regret it! I know I do not regret purchasing the entire collection of these books! And considering if you do purchase the entire collection you will actually be able to read or listen to various missions and just what made Rex the most respected Légionnaire among the Legionnaires!

Another Grand Slam home run for Meg Gardiner!! Definitely will NOT DISAPPOINT YOU!!

Shadowheart is another bases loaded last of the nineth ending with the batting team down 3 points! Meg Gardiner has hit another grand slam home run with her book Shadowheart! Now I absolutely do not want to give a single itsy bitsy morsel of the twist and turns along with how this mystery puzzle is put together, meaning I do not want to say anything which could remotely provide any type of spoilers!!
Now I always right a pros and cons on my reviews. PROS: THE ENTIRE BOOK!! Meg Gardiner's sheer talent and imagination not to mention the way she see less is able to formulate each and every sentence in such a manner that the story line flows effortlessly. Not only that, as she writes her stories,.it is like each previous sentence, paragraph, page and chapter only further enhances her plot line even more. I know that not make sense, but image if her writing ability in which to craft and telling stories was instead music, well then during the current times if she were a guitar player, she would be Eddie Van Halen or Slash, now if you go back a few centuries, well she would have been the Beethoven of that time. Or possibly one of the famous painters in history. What it all comes down to is this extremely gifted author, Meg Gardiner is an author you will want to definitely keep an eye on and whenever she publishes a new book, well I can definitely and honestly tell you, that I shall be there in line waiting excitedly to purchase it!!
Now for the CONS: Well, honestly I can only think of a single con and that is simply I felt that my time enjoying this went went by far to fast! 😃. Which is how it normally goes when one finds a treasure of a book which just immediately draws you straight into the book during the very first chapter!

If you have read any of this series UNSUB, then I can tell you that you will NOT be disappointed!! And for any and everyone who has not had the pleasure to have read, felt like you were a part of the story...all while thoroughly enjoying each book, Well I can wholeheartedly endorse this series and each and every book of the series!

very close to how federal law enforcement procedurals are performed with believable characters in this series

gripping story that keeps you wanting to continue to listen! The writer has definitely performed their research on FBI BIU procedurals to ensure they are as authentic as possible without giving away the smaller nuances which are tools of the trade!
Characters are actually believable in their actions, although (and I know that Profiler Special agent Kate is the writer's many hero) for Kate's character to be more realistic she would either need to be close to a savant, prodigy in regards to profiling or so brillant that she is able to put all of the small yet crucial pieces of the puzzle (not only to realize the significants of each tiny clue) but also to be able to recognize that they are indeed clues which will aid in identifying the unsub. All while senior profilers from the BIU who are basically gleening some basic clues which literally jump up and slap them in the face and yet they seem stuck on discovering the smaller details. especially as this is either her second or third case with the FBI along with her last case with the Alameda County Sheriff's department.

However, this series also provides a real look of the struggles Kate and all of those within her orbit all go through on a day by day basis. Showing the personal side of the officers as they do their best to compartmentalize the cases they deal with and home life on a everyday basis (which if you have never been on the job, you can not understand just how difficulty keeping work and home seperated!

If you have listened to the very first book in this series, I guarantee you will absolutely love this audiobook as well!!

another home run hit by Meg Gardiner!!

This is one of the most fascinating series I have listened to in a long time! I especially love how Meg Gardiner decided to continue with the main character of this book and the book UNSUB. Kaitlyn is an extremely strong and powerful female character who definitely does NOT need some knight in shining armor to rescue her! As she is the type of female character who would grab ahold of the villain and deal justice to them! FBI Kaitlyn is similar to a Timex watch as she can take a licking (being beaten up) and not only keep on ticking but doing so in style!!
But what I find that impressed me the most (and caused me to purchase the entire series as soon as I finished book 1 UNSUB, is that her character is completely believable as all of the other characters in this series! What I mean by this is she doesn't shoot 30 rounds from a weapon that only holds 16. Her actions are that of a very dedicated law enforcement officer and what she goes through and how she responds are how a real dedicated person would react! There is no over the top occurrences in which in real life could not happen! This series reads more like a memoir describing some.of her most unusual, unsettling cases as a law enforcement officer, instead of fiction. As I could see her retelling these stories involving her time dealing with serial killers! As I have seen actual law enforcement officers write books of a similar nature.

You will NOT regret purchasing any of these books with in this series!! And if Meg Gardiner writes her other books with the same dedication in which she has written this series, well then James Patterson, you have a extremely talented author who can go toe to toe with your books! and I do not say this lightly as I am a HUGE fan of James Patterson's books!!

FANTASTIC SERIES!!

This has to be one of the most realistic series in which the U.S. could potentially happen to it! And how all of the characters are portrayed could very well be accurate as more and more individuals and groups join together for SHTF type of situation. This book is written in a manner in which to present as accurate of an apocalypse type of situation without having actually witnessed the actual real life situation. You can tell that the author has not only put in a lot of work researching how potential preppers would have prepared for various situations, which makes this audio series so much better!
If you enjoy realistic type of SHTF type of stories, then this series is definitely for you! The narrativor does a fantastic job both voicing the various characters but also using the appropriate tones as situations dictate in which to bring not only the characters alive but also changing the tone of the story as various situations occur. I would also like to point out that the author had when writing this book, had even thought of how different government agencies would act along believable situations in which the villain of the story line came to be. I do not want to give any part of the book spoilers while typing my review. But as I was saying, how the villain indeed come to pass, was not something I thought about beforehand! But after listening to this series, I can see something like this happening in real life! Which has given me pause to think, along with worrying if a situation such as the events from this series actually happened, just how screwed up the survivors would end up having to deal with! I mean, to have something like that hanging over survivors, PLUS all of the other hardships like marauders, food shortages, the need for ammunition for hunting food and having to make every single round count as people may not actually have very many rounds of ammo, learning how to bushcraft, grow and locate food sources, drinkable water and let's not even get started with how a single cut from a piece of metal which has been exposed to the elements for any length of time could end up being fatal!
Any apocalyptic situation, of could and would lead to countless numbers of deaths for something in which no one would even consider as an issue in the current world we live in.
I hope you enjoy this series as much as did!

Another homerun!!

I must say, I was extremely excited to have discovered that there was another "Operator" book in the series! I have either read or listened to every single book in this series! And I am keeping my fingers crossed that the author will write additional books for this series!
I would like to point out that to fully understand all of the past references in this book, you would need to begin with book 1 of this series. The entire series is fantastic! And I can guarantee you that you will not regret obtaining this entire series!!

This is the first time I have ever come across this author and though when I previewed this book, I found it to be somewhat of a slow start, I can tell you that this is a book to purchase as the story is well worth listening! Now I have read all sorts of fantasy books within its genre. I have yet to have EVER come across a character who is so extremely unique and interesting! Now I shall not comment on any spoilers in which would would provide readers of this review any hints or discovers without reading or listening to this book! All I will say is that I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS AUTHOR TO RELEASE THE NEXT BOOK WITHIN THIS SERIES!! AS I PLAN ON PIRCHASING THE ENITRE SERIES AS EACH BOOK IS RELEASED!! That is JUST HIW GREAT THIS BOOK IS!!
So grab a copy of this book and begin your adventure as you follow the characters adventures that occur with the storyline!! You will NOT regret purchasing this book!!

Another Fantastic Book by this author!

This is one of my favorite series which I began listening to a couple of years ago, as I began the series with The Savage Wars. You do not necessarily need to have read the previous series to enjoy this particular series but just be aware that there will some references to some characters or events in which has occurred in one of the previous parts of the Saga. In this particular set of books, the names of characters and events do not effect the over all story but I know that I prefer to follow the books in order just so that I am able to catch all of the little mentions from previous book sets which are a part of the overall series.

Another fantastic Midnight, Texas Book!!

It was a true delight to have discovered that another book about Midnight, Texas and all of the characters residing in Midnight!! And this time it seems that poor Mansfield has some how gotten himself into a bit of trouble!! Luckily for Mansfield that the residents in Midnight tend to watch out for each other along with their town!!
The narrator of this book has done a real fine job providing the various voices of all of the characters! As he was able to provide the various voices all while drawing the listener in and immerse themselves into the storyline!
You do not need to have read or listened to all of the other books in the series to be able to enjoy this novel or any of the others, though having knowledge of the other books does provide enlightenment in regards to who and what each of the Midnight residents are or why they each choose to reside in Midnight.
This is another hit right out of the ball park!! I am quite sure that you will enjoy this audiobook as much as I, myself have!

fantastic book. Similar to the Operator Series but with a Sci Fi twist

Another excellent book by both authors! This book and from what I gather a new series is just as engaging as The Operator Series!! If you enjoy books about tier 1 operators or Spec Ops (same thing just a different method of description) such as Delta Force, Navy SEALs or Green Berets, then this is a fantastic book for you! As this book also has a little twist with technology as well which makes this a refreshing and "breath of fresh air" book as it adds aspects I have not read in other Operator books. You will not regret purchasing this book!!
