Historia
The story that made Agatha Christie famous ends with one of her most dramatic twists. The villagers of King’s Abbot are shocked when a wealthy local widow commits suicide and the very next day her fiancé, Roger Ackroyd, is stabbed to death. Dr. James Sheppard, the local physician, discovers the body of his friend and narrates the ensuing hunt for the killer. All the guests and staff at Ackroyd's country house seem to have solid alibis - except for his missing stepson.

Chilling
Revisado: 06-20-24
What a chilling finish! The use of a fresh outside perspective is quite effective. The best Agatha Christie novel thus far in the series.

Just right
Revisado: 06-04-24
The voices are well done, not over dramatized. The story is timeless. Christie always gives you just enough information to keep you guessing but not give it away too early.

He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

Engaging, well paced
Revisado: 04-12-24
The intertwining of legend, past and dystopian future makes this Sci-fi an interesting read. Having watched the Dune movie first, the book is helpful in making sense of the plot.

Dry humor
Revisado: 03-21-24
This is classic Mark Twain humor and it takes me back into an era before sound bites and 30 second ads. The drowsy way the plot unfolds can be daunting, but then Twain lands a punch and you just have to laugh out loud.

Entertaining and in consistent
Revisado: 01-31-24
Entertaining story, well told. Disturbing in its vacillating approach to morality. The concept that good and evil are unalterable standards is occasionally traded for the idea that morality is a societal construct. Intellectually inconsistent, but then most people function is way, so perhaps Scott is simply reflecting society as he finds it.
Performance: the voices are inconsistent. Sometimes a male voice takes over for both sides of a male/female character conversation mid way through a dialog. It makes for confusing listening at times. Otherwise well cast and performed with moving vocal inflection.
