Historia
From the site of Anakin Skywalker’s last stand—on the molten surface of the planet Mustafar, where he sought to destroy his friend and former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi—a fearsome specter in black has risen. Once the most powerful Knight ever known to the Jedi Order, he is now a disciple of the dark side, a lord of the dreaded Sith, and the avenging right hand of the galaxy’s ruthless new Emperor. Seduced, deranged, and destroyed by the machinations of the Dark Lord Sidious, Anakin Skywalker is dead . . . and Darth Vader lives.

The shroud of the Dark Side has fallen…
Revisado: 04-08-25
This is the Darth Vader novel you are looking for, Luceno masterfully executes a deep dive into Vader’s mind and his relationship with the Emperor and the early empire. An excellent companion to the Revenge of the Sith novel, this story truly ushers in the Dark Times. It also knows how to explore Bail and Leia relationship creating a fear of discovery by Vader rather than a low level inquisitor. All of this is weaved around a story of surviving Jedi on the run from the empire that keeps the listener from knowing where the story will go. Thompson gives his usual solid performance as well.
I’d recommend picking this up especially if you plan to listen to Shadows of the Empire when it comes out. Not that the two tie directly together but the similar themes of exploring the inner thoughts of Vader during the rise of the empire complement his thoughts before Return of the Jedi.

Historia
The savage Clone Wars have forced the Republic to the edge of collapse. During the height of the battle, one Jedi Knight escapes the carnage to deliver a message to Yoda on Coruscant. It appears that Dooku wants peace and demands a rendezvous. Chances are slim that the treacherous Count is sincere but, with a million lives at stake, Yoda has no choice. The meeting will take place on Vjun, a planet steeped in evil. The challenge could not be more difficult. Can Yoda win back his once promising pupil from the dark side or will Count Dooku unleash his sinister forces against his former mentor?

An interesting deep dive into clone wars era Jedi
Revisado: 03-26-25
This story explores life for padawans who have lost their masters and what happens to them if they are not able to meet expectations. Additionally, it examines the relationship between Yoda and Dooku from both sides, as Yoda leads a small mission behind enemy lines.
Johnathan Davis for my money is the best narrator when it comes to prequel era stories and delivers another exceptional performance especially his Yoda voice.
One side note, Ventress has a large part in this and comes across as a greater threat than she was able to in The Clone Wars series which limited her due to the intended audience. In this they make it very clear that she is capable of killing Jedi and even has a running count.
This is well worth a listen, hopefully they will produce Labyrinth of Evil soon and bring Davis back for that too!

Great story, improved performance
Revisado: 02-24-25
A solid eu story that sets the foundation for much of what’s to come. January has a noticeably better performance here than Dawn of the Jedi delivering narration that is perfectly fine to listen too, and shows potential of becoming great in the future.

Allston does it once again wrapping up Wraith Squadrons original trilogy satisfactorily! The only possible downside is a loose end that is resolved in the novel Courtship of Princess Leia.

Historia
Against all odds, the controversial Wraith Squadron has survived its first covert mission. But now they are called upon to cheat death twice. This time, Wedge Antilles sends them in to stop the warlord Zsinj and his Super Star Destroyer, Iron Fist. If Zsinj joins the Empire, it could turn the tide of war against the Rebels. The Wraith Squadron’s mission: infiltrate the warlord’s fleet and uncover his carefully guarded plans. To do so, they must pose as ruthless pirates seeking to join Zsinj’s forces. And that means first becoming pirates in space lanes teeming with Imperial navy patrols.

Revisado: 11-01-24
A well thought out sequel that fits into the “Burton-Verse” like a glove. The dialogue for all the returning characters feels genuine to each. There is one loose end that leaves the door open for sequels without being consequential to the main story, and seems to negate the Schumacher films.

JJM does it again!
Revisado: 08-01-24
John Jackson Miller creates a tale that on the surface doesn’t have galactic spanning consequences but instead focuses on the small scale character interactions similar to his novel Kenobi. In execution it’s not quite as good as Kenobi but that novel is near perfection.

Revisado: 05-11-24
A great follow up to the Terminal List, Jack Carr continues to pack so much detail in his novels that it paints a vivid picture of, and transports the listener into that world through the skilled narration of Ray Porter. The only issue is that the chapter times are about 20-30 seconds off of the audio.

Classic old school Thrawn
Revisado: 02-14-24
A great Thrawn story, however, it is recommended that you listen to Survivors Quest first as events from this book will potentially spoil the other. My only disappointment is that Thompson continues to do an impression of Rebels Thrawn instead of his original voice, but given where this story takes place I can excuse it as young Thrawn’s voice.
