Historia
A prominent conservative scholar traces the post-1960s divisions between the Right and the Left, taking aim at liberals' victimization of African Americans and their failure to offer a viable way forward for American society. The United States today is hopelessly polarized; the political Right and Left have hardened into rigid and deeply antagonistic camps, preventing any sort of progress.

enlightened!
Revisado: 07-23-20
to be a conservative in these times, is an amazing challenge...to know your position and its juxtaposed reality to liberalism, leaves one struggling to communicate the strong and very real belief in the full capabilities of the individual human spirit. this author helps to give a clear understanding of the side you, as a conservative stand on. I am a white Hispanic ...having delt with racism myself. an the strong desire to set it aside...this book arguably, helps to define the strength in individuality of the person and to the independent opportunity to the success of his or her individual truth. the author makes very clear the difference between systemic racism and individual racism. he puts in context, through personal antidotal experiences...a life time of realizations that helps the reader to a crystal clear understanding of what we are all suffering through currently. well WELL done!

Historia
For those who witnessed the global collapse of socialism, its resurrection in the 21st century comes as a surprise, even a shock. How can socialism work now when it has never worked before? In this pathbreaking audiobook, best-selling author Dinesh D’Souza argues that the socialism advanced today by the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, Ilhan Omar, and Elizabeth Warren is very different from the socialism of Lenin, Mao, and Castro.

powerfully on point!

I wish, that at some point, holes could be poked in this very daunting narrative of our country and the truly maddening reality we are now in. all that is presented in this book is spot on and leaves an undeniable reality, that somehow we must find a way to stop what appears a certain march towards a permanent and unreversible future. I have already suggested this read to many friends and some family. this book is a must read!

Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

a narrative that does not fit all.
Revisado: 06-29-20
I am a bi-racial white-Hispanic. in my late 50's and now having lived in new mexico, texas and iowa, I find this book a difficult one to embrace. I imagine there could be a more balanced and less self embracing of thought (the author) than this book presents. simply put...as far as she is concerned "you are racist". she gives the reader almost zero latitude of consciousness. her argument with the reader and just about anyone that has had the misfortune of encountering the thought process is pretty much dammed to be wrong if not of her opinion. my life has been defined by racism from a multitude of races. I have myself been beaten, threatened, not hired, profiled by just about every race and that includes the races I proudly represent...with that I do not believe her to be correct in her position. are some people racist? yes. are all simply because they would align themselves with a particular race...specifically white? no! but! she would and does deny you as a white person anything other then a pure bias. in the end, her position to me ( in my opinion) is her own racial guilt. a white woman with an axe to grind with her own conscience.

Historia
When a spaceship landed in an open field in the quiet mill town of Sorrow Falls, Massachusetts, everyone realized humankind was not alone in the universe. With that realization everyone freaked out for a little while. Or almost everyone. The residents of Sorrow Falls took the news pretty well. This could have been due to a certain local quality of unflappability, or it could have been that in three years the ship did exactly nothing other than sit quietly in that field, and nobody understood the full extent of this nothing the ship was doing better than the people who lived right next door.

I loved this!!! The characters were well thought out and executed, so that even if the narrator never changed his tone of voice, the authors words carried through. The choice of narrator gave Annie an old soul feel to her that sparked mischief in her character. Thoroughly enjoyed this and all the funny twists and turns.

Loved this series through and through. The characters were well developed, the narrator gave each one an individual personality, the author kept the story twisting in directions that kept defying expectations and the ending felt just right. Can't recommend it enough.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

too much reading

I couldn't get into this book. The secondary narrator couldn't even pronounce John Cena's name correctly and unfortunately Daniel Bryan doesn't seem to know how to narrate, way too much monotone reading.
