Historia
On November 6, 1860, Abraham Lincoln became the fluky victor in a tight race for president. The country was bitterly at odds; Southern extremists were moving ever closer to destroying the Union, with one state after another seceding and Lincoln powerless to stop them. Slavery fueled the conflict, but somehow the passions of North and South came to focus on a lonely federal fortress in Charleston Harbor: Fort Sumter.

Great narrative of the Battle of Sumter and very inciteful descriptions of tge antebellum South. The narration is very slow. i sped it up a notch and it made a world of difference.

great book on the the political inner workings of the CIA. It's sonetines a little over the top with the mqin character looking at every person's actions from an office politics point of view. If this is the reality of our clabdestine services, it's a great explanatiin of the corruption that has come to light since 2016.

Historia
In The Anxious Generation, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt lays out the facts about the epidemic of teen mental illness that hit many countries at the same time. He then investigates the nature of childhood, including why children need play and independent exploration to mature into competent, thriving adults. Haidt shows how the “play-based childhood” began to decline in the 1980s, and how it was finally wiped out by the arrival of the “phone-based childhood” in the early 2010s.

solid research
Revisado: 05-09-24
for many of us in the education field, we have been applying band aids to the mental health crisis in our schools for the past few years. Haidt offers solid research to explain a major cause of the problem and offers viable solutions. I have purchased several copies for my school administrators to read to discuss ways we can be proactive in dealing with the issue.

Best Gray Man Book to Date
Revisado: 09-12-23
This was a great listen. it was a solid amount of action and some great military humor. I just wish Netfix could pick an actor to play the Gray Man who is only half as good as the narrator of these books. it would make a great movie series.

Entertaining

Good story as long as you're not looking for something that's realistic. The author stretches the Chinese propaganda a bit too far as to make the case that the Chinese government cares for its people and would never consider using a bilological weapon and always works for the good of society.

good premise, but I'm always disappointed at the end of Patterson books. I wish he would spend more time developing his characters and add a plot twist or two. This is typical Patterson writing in one dimension and total lack of suspense. The lead character voice does an excellent job and helps the lackluster writing.
