A very unique and thought provoking story
Revisado: 07-12-20
After reading enough Sci-Fi/Fantasy you start to see the same patterns and cliché popping up again and again. Therefore i was pleasantly surprised by the unconventional rout Boulware leads you down and the thought teasing philosophical implications throughout. The story takes place in a modern day "real world" Earth, only with a slight twist. I thoroughly enjoyed the alternative history factoids sprinkle throughout the story, along with the slew of references any 90s nerd will get a kick of. I am interested to see what the author will do with this story line in the future. All in all, worth a read.

Enjoyable story, audio was hard to hear at times.
Revisado: 02-01-18
As with may of the responses here the audio had parts where the speaker would whisper things under his breath and you couldnt hear what they were saying without turning the volume way up.
The story was good, not as good as the first 2 books but still enjoyable.

Historia
Rezkin is an elite warrior who aims to restore order in Ashai after Caydean's attack on the King's Tournament transformed former allies and trading partners into enemies. With no army and only a ragtag group of refugees, Rezkin must wrest control of the kingdom from the mad and powerful usurper, who seems bent on destruction, and this may not be the biggest challenge. If he fails, the kingdom will be ripped apart, and Rezkin will have violated Rule 1 - to protect and honor his friends.

Decent, but not as good as the first 2.
Revisado: 01-20-18
I REALLY liked the first 2 books but this one left me disapointed. I will probably give the next one a chance, but this book left me unsatisfied. It lacked the fun character interaction of the first 2 and while I understand the book is meant to progress the larger plot I felt like as a stand alone book it really didn't have any real conclusion to the issues at had. It seemed as if there should have been an additional 1/3 of the book but the publishers chose to cut it short so they could make an extra book to sell. (!!!SPOILERS!!!) Also the addition of the Fey, Elves, specter knights, demons, and unidentified magic that only Rezkin can do felt very forced. Sereously, it seems every time a problem arose Rezkin just got a new magical ability that no one understood. The author chose to leave a lot of Rezkin's mystical experiences unexplained, not to mention Rezkin's mental breakdown. The book introduces a ton of concepts but leaves pretty much every one open ended. Had the book ended with an understanding of Rezkin's relationship to the Elves and explained the impish things they had been fighting in the end of the book I would have been a lot more satisfied. Instead it ends with Rez brooding because he dosen't fit in and the reader wondering where the hell the author is going with this (you know, asside from Rez being a demigod)

slow build
Revisado: 03-06-17
not a bad story overall, but there are so many plotlines and charecters that it takes about half the book before you figure out where the author is going with the plot line. i just never really felt sucked in or overly sympathetic to the charecters. I may get the second book, by the end I was enjoying it, it is just a slow build to get you to a point where you care about the story.
