Historia
At 39, Nancy Kissel had it all: the royal lifestyle of the expatriate wife, three young children, and what a friend described as "the best marriage in the universe". That marriage - to investment banker Robert Kissel - ended one November night in 2003 in their luxury apartment high above Hong Kong's glittering Victoria Harbour, when Robert was murdered and Nancy became the prime suspect.

What dysfunction!
Revisado: 04-03-25
This book was great as I learned many details I didn’t know about this murder. Both of these families were a mess. IMO Nancy may have HPD. She is very histrionic. Nothing would have ever made her happy. Robert seemed less crazy but growing up with the father he had, it’s no wonder he was a mess as well. Enjoyed this book.

More BS
Revisado: 03-04-25
I don’t know what’s more puzzling. The fact that Chris Watts has yet another story or that this author actually believes that this is the real truth. I believe Chris’s story keeps changing because he’s protecting Shan’ann . His newfound come to Jesus is what has caused him to now come up with this demonic or evil spirit driving him to do this. His first story is most likely the closest to the truth. No one should have died. Period. But this is not a story about a man who was so in love with another woman that he killed his entire family to be with her. That makes no sense. How could he possibly go on with the other woman as is pointed out by the author the entire book…yet she still believes the story? I’m not gonna go into the psychological reasons behind why I think Shan’ann and Chris’ marriage was failing, but I do know that this had nothing to do with love or lust. This had to do with incompatibility, control, meekness, narcissism, financial dispare, a wife wanting to have the perfect life and family on Facebook, a man not wanting his life and family all over Facebook, and 2 little girls humiliated and ignored by their mother and without a father strong enough to stand up for them against her…. Until the end.

Historia
In Creekstone, Texas, a small, quiet suburb of Houston, football was king and David Temple was a prince. A former high school and college gridiron-star-turned-coach, he had a fairy-tale marriage to bright, vivacious Belinda Lucas, a teacher at the local high school who was so warm and popular her colleagues called her "The Sunshine Girl". The fairy tale ended savagely on January 11, 1999, when Belinda's lifeless body was discovered in a closet. Her skull had been shattered by a shotgun blast at close range. She was eight months pregnant.

That dog…..
Revisado: 01-27-25
Excellent book. All I could think listening was why in the world would anyone want a dog like that especially with children in the house?! That’s just crazy to me. NO ONE is getting past that dog. Also, it’s always suspicious when a spouse is murdered and the surviving spouse keeps their children away from the murdered spouse’s family. This happens often with grandparents. Dan Markel comes to mind.

So much I did not know!
Revisado: 06-09-24
I learned so much about these two cases that I have never heard. And I hate to be critical because these parents have suffered so and it breaks my heart, but I just feel like Beth should’ve worked with her ex-husband more. It was so unfortunate to me, and I don’t know what happened with their divorce and why she got custody and all that or why it was so contentious but it seems like at a time like this you would would work with your child’s father a little more. No matter how you feel about him personally he’s lost his daughter as well and was just as worried. Just my opinion. God bless them all

It’s a crime in and of itself that this psycho wasn’t in prison years before he had his ex/-wife killed. I’ll learned so much about this case that I did not know which is the great thing about Ann Rule’s books. Unbelievable.

Unbelievable
Revisado: 08-10-23
It’s unbelievable that people think Scientology is a religion. It’s a cult. I don’t fault children who are brought into this cult by their parents. They had no choice. But as parents, to subject your children to hard labor, abuse and to your voluntary absence is immoral and criminal. Thank goodness for people like Jenna, Leah, Mike Rinder, the Headleys and many more brave people that continue to shine a light on these cockroaches.
